Great staff, okay for a night.

Posted Aug 25, 2017 on Hotels
We booked this place last-minute before the eclipse; otherwise, there was no way I'd pay as high of a price as I did for this room. The staff was great - they were able to check us in early. Even though we were in a non-smoking room, it still smelled slightly like cigarettes. There's a mall nearby - it's not close to anything exciting. It also seemed like a place where people stay for much longer, true to its name.

It was our pleasure having you as our guest at Extended Stay America. It's great to know you overall enjoyed your stay and liked our friendly staff. However, we are sorry that your non-smoking room had a smoke odor. We have asked our housekeeping team to make sure this suite receives a deep clean to remove the smell. We hope you will choose us again when your travels bring you back to Charleston. Sincerely, General Manager

Great Location, No Buisness Amenities

Posted Aug 22, 2017 on Hotels
During my check in the family ahead of me checking in went to their room and reported that one of the family members was instantly bitten by a bed bug when she lay down on the pull-out bed. That raised my concern but I continued with my check in. The first room I was assigned had not been cleaned by house-keeping. I began to feel more concerned about whether I'd be able to stay there or have to make new reservations somewhere else on short notice. The manager became involved and helped me inspect the room for bed bugs. It was clear, and I had a restful sleep. The breakfast bar was filled with processed, packaged, junk foods, and coffee.

Location, Location, Location

My family stays here often when coming to the Charleston area. Extended Stay doesn't have many luxuries, but it's a great place to go if you want a nice size room at a low price. It's also a great place if you plan to eat any of your meals in the room. I like to get out early and go walking. Starbucks is a block away. If I feel like breakfast, Panera, Cracker Barrel, and Denny's are all within a block or two. Northwoods Mall, Target, Walmart, and various shopping centers are also within walking distance. The monie theater and Ice Palace are right next door which we often take advantage of on rainy days. Numerous restaurants surround the mall area. Great location, great staff, wonderful stay each time.

I would have rate this hotel a five star until I check my bank account an notice I was charged 3 different amounts, which put my bank account on hold on a Holiday weekend.

Beer bottles, syringes and broken in cars.

Posted May 29, 2017 on Hotels
We were on a business trip and decided to booked at Extended Stay. We have stayed at several different ones across the country and were always pleased with the stay. The first thing we noticed was that the front door was locked. I understand that for the safety of the crew, that sometimes doors are locked at certain times, however, after you've been on the road for hours, the last thing you want to do is wait outside while someone comes to let you in. The front desk attendant was very nice and the check-in was quick once I was inside the building. Once checked-in, we drove around to find a parking spot and entered the hotel through a side door, which led directly to a staircase. Two things happened at once - we noticed empty beer bottles on the stairs and once we opened the door to the actual hallway, we were hit with the overwhelming smell of stale cigarettes. Things went downhill from there. The next day we saw syringes in the parking lot and that night the hotel reeked of marijuana. The third night was the same, so much that we bought air freshener. On the last day, as we were getting ready to leave, we noticed that our car had been broken into. Luckily we hadn't left anything in the car to be taken, but the contents of our dash were spread everywhere. In all honesty, if it hadn't been a holiday weekend, we would have tried to go to another hotel, but everything local was fully booked. I would never recommend anyone to stay here.

Lobby is very small. They serve coffee and muffins for breakfast. Rooms were minimal. There's a kitchenette in the room but no plates or utensils. Bring your own pillow because the ones they have are tiny. Room service doesn't clean the room until you check out.

Thank you for your candid feedback. Please accept my apologies for your disappointment with our hotel policies. To ensure cleanliness of kitchenware upon check-in, brand standards require us to make these items available at the front desk rather than leaving them in the suites. I would also like to mention, our housekeeping is done on a weekly basis to respect the privacy of our guests, although we are happy to offer this service to you at a minimal fee. We appreciate your feedback regarding our amenities and have shared it with my management team to see how we can make improvements. I truly regret the inconvenience caused and hope you will give us another chance to provide you with a much better experience in the future. Sincerely, General Manager

Sad stay

Water was not drinkable and had an awful odor from sink. No wash cloths left in room just towels. Kitchenette not equipped with any glasses, utensils, plates, or anything. Had to request it when needed.

Dirty room, couldn't wait to leave.

Posted Apr 27, 2017 on Hotels
Overall just very bad, dirty room and sheets with hair in the made up bed. I asked to be moved to a room that was clean. I was accommodated. I went to say thank you and was told that I created problems. I was very rudely dismissed. I will never use this location again.

Ronald, I am terribly sorry for our shortcomings during your stay with us. Besides the fact that your first room had cleanliness issues, I sincerely apologize that you were met with anything other than friendly service in the process. This is not certainly not acceptable, and we will redouble our efforts to ensure this does not happen again. I truly hope you will give us another chance to prove we are committed to providing outstanding accommodations and service. Sincerely, General Manager
