Hotel Horrible

They gave away my reservation after saying that I had to pay 250 in cash plus the room fee of 132.00. I didnt mind because that is the procedure generally but cash??? So when I went to get the cash from the ATM people were already in my room after 10 minutes. I literally went across the street and came back. Mind you I had this reservation for over a week. Then they tried to steer me towards a smaller room when the people who came in my room shouldve been asked to leave. It was a true inconvenience not to mention I had 10 young men for a sleep over. Couldnt get another room because I had 500.00 in cash in my pocket because of withdrawing to pay their unorthodox deposit..

Horrible hotel

To start off the people at the counter do not speak English. We had to speak into their phone for them to translate what they were saying. The hotel room was dirty their were hairs on the sink, the out let cover was missing and their was blood on the sham of one bed. Then to top it off their was a party going on across from our balcony and we called the front desk and they did nothing about it. We were up until 4 am with them making tons of noise. I will never stay there again!!

Birthday Getaway

Pros: The staff were friendly, the room was ready upon arrival, and for the most part everything was clean.
Cons: Thorough room cleanliness and more dishes and silverware in the room.
Location: There is literally everything in the plaza area of the hotel. Movies, car repair, fast food, stores. Most of the places in walking distance.
Upon arrival the secretary and the manager were very friendly and personable. I traveled with my best friend and a teenage girl. They asked the reason for our travel and I explained I needed to get away for my birthday. They both were excited that we stayed at their hotel and upgraded our room from a suite with 1 bed and a full kitchen to a 2-floor penthouse with 2 beds and a full kitchen. The manager also suggested some wonderful places to tour and visit for the holiday season that are kid friendly.

Garage-Sale Furnishings

Clean, but more like a 20-something basement apartment than a hotel room. Miss-matched furniture, mattress practically on the floor. whew.

Not the best Hawthorne Suites

Pretty disappointing, actually. In amenities, it states each room has a fireplace. Mine did not. The beds were not comfortable and dipped in the middle. It was nice to have a full kitchen, including an oven. Wooden stairs leading to the second floor required maintenance. The property is right next to the interstate, so the traffic noise is LOUD. But, the refrigerator noise drowns it out a bit. There are a few fast food places nearby (Wendy's, Tim Horton's, Subway), but there are also several shuttered buildings. I've stayed at several Hawthorne Suites in the last few weeks... this one was not impressive.

Remodeling?

If you are remodeling, Don't put a guest in a run down room for full price. I have stayed here numerous times and needed a place close to my dad in hospital. Disappointing room for the price.

This hotel needs a lot of work. Our room was cozy, just the furniture showed a lot of wear. The mattresses seemed brand new and we're very comfortable. It's under new ownership, so it will be interesting to see how things improve. The area was once a busy place, but some of the surrounding hotels we're boarded up. That made us wonder if we choose a safe location.
