Location and price were great. Owners were attentive. Some who are used to new hotels in suburbia might find the rooms dated but not unusual for non- chain rooms in FL. For example, no central air, older window AC, no soap dishes in bathroom, etc. I'm fine with old school and the Wi-Fi works great and a full kitchenette and beach chairs! Two blocks to the beach and all the restaurants and bars for a great price what more child you ask for

The Breakaway Inn is a diamond in the ruff, couldn't be happier. From the moment we meet the owner to the last day was amazing. Close to the beach, food and shopping. The weather was amazing. They took care of us and made sure they were there if we needed anything. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Home Away From Home
We call Breakaway Inn our home away from home. It is close to the ocean but at the same time far enough away from all the noise. The owners live at the property and are always willing to help in any way.

From accommodating our early arrival, to the arrangement of a late checkout, we could not have asked more. Our room was spotless, kitchen had everything we might need, and the water pressure in the shower could practically peel paint-just the way we like it. The courtyard was quiet, and we more or less had the pool to ourselves for the duration of our stay. Just a few steps to the shops & dining, a couple of blocks to a grocery store, and the beach only minutes away by foot as well. Perfect.

This lovely gem is near everything in Lauderdale by the Sea. The pool is clean with Adirondack chairs and tables. The garden is lovely to just sit and relax in the nearby ocean's breezes. Beach chairs & towels are available, and a variety of after sun/burn products are too! We had a ground floor room with 2 queen beds, table & chairs, fridge, oven/stove, microwave, all pots, pans, plates, glass & tableware, plenty of closet/drawer space (with hangers), blankets, iron & board. They clean & change towels MWF. Parking on premises, with a 2-3 block walk to beach. Outside table and chairs to dine outside your room. Lots of restaurants, kitchy shops, a grocery store nearby. Try the Aruba Cafe on the beach. Yummy food, reasonably priced for what you get. Kilwins ice cream. We made friends with a local cat, but no pets allowed. Pleasant guests. Quiet. Very enjoyable stay.

Loved the Old Florida feel of the property. A lo ely Garden and heated pool. Owner/manager welcoming and always available. Super convenient, yet quiet! On the down side the wi-fi ranged from unreliable to nonexistent. They are in the process of upgrade though.

What a gem! Super comfortable beds, perfectly clean kitchen, bathroom, and living room and well kept property. The room I stayed in was an apartment with a full kitchen. Management on property and always available and super nice. 2 blocks from beach but there is a shortcut. Beach towels and chairs/umbrellas available upon request and guest laundry on site. If they were booked for when I come back in a couple weeks I would stay again!

This is our second year coming to the Breakaway Inn and it was relaxing and peaceful. The property is beautiful, although it’s old that is what gives it charm. I love coming here to stay

This property was amazing ! Very quiet and relaxing. If you’re looking for a chill and quiet place to stay it’s perfect for you. It was really nice having the pool there and wasn’t ever crowded. Perfect walking distance to the beach, shops, restaurants and gas stations. The staff was very polite and responsive. Definitely will be returning!!

Likes: Nice location. Walking distance to restaurants, beach etc. Place was clean. Bed was ok. Looked very nice from outside. Pleasant owner. Lived on property. Nice pool Felt safe Well stocked Pot and pans dishes etc. Nice play area across the street. Dislikes: place is older. Needs updated. Small room. Small shower. Bath towels were more like hand towels. Refrigerator didn’t keep food cold. Freezer door wouldn’t stay closed Every time you opened the refrigerator door the freezer door came open .Grills we’re old but useable.Didn’t like the fact that guest could not use the pool or no guest parking. So pretty much guest we’re not welcomed. Wasn’t sure if this is their policy all the time or just because it was the Fourth of July weekend. Ok stay and the price was right for area. Probably would not stay there again mostly because of the shower and the refrigerator.

Thank you for your feedback and for appreciating our location and cleanliness. I am sorry you did not fully enjoy your stay. We would repair the refrigerator door if we knew there was a problem, it was relatively easy fix. Unfortunately, at this time there is nothing we can do about the size of the shower or room ( 300 Sq ft) As for the rules: Our guests ( persons that are registered and staying at our Inn ) have full use of pool and all the facilities on the property. For their comfort and safety, Visitors ( persons that are visiting the registered guests from outside) are not allowed during any of the holiday weekends , and this was extended, since Pandemic started, due to increased safety measures. At this time we are slowly starting to recover the limited visitor rule. However, we do not offer parking for visitors ( parking available at the bank nearby) since we don’t have enough parking for all our rooms ( 16 spaces for 18 rooms). Also, visitors are not allowed to swim in our pool because of liability.

If you plan on visiting family close to Lauderdale by the sea, I highly recommend staying somewhere else. The lady at the front desk will watch you closely to make sure no family visits you. My mother came to visit us and see her grandchildren and the lady said there is a strict no visitors policy and she had to leave right away. Our room had NO A/C in the middle of Florida’s summer heat. My children had to sleep in underwear because they were drenched in sweat. I mentioned it to the lady when I was leaving the next Day and she said “well it doesn’t really matter now because you’re leaving anyway”. I couldn’t believe her response. The pool is filthy to the point where my 7 year old grabbed the pool cleaner to try and get some of the filth out of it. This place is not worth it at all.

This is, unfortunately, a vindictive review, because I did not allowed these guests to have outside visitors and for them to swim in our pool. Since the start of Pandemic, to provide safety and comfort of our guests, we have rules that we do not allow outside visitors. This family was told that at check in, however, the same day decided to break the rules and bring the family in for visit and swim. I reminded them again about the restrictions and the male guest told me that because of that they would like to find another accommodation that will allow them to have visitors. We agreed that they will stay one night with one night charge and they will leave the next day with remaining days refunded. During the night, 3 am, some of my guests and I, were awaken by shouting and swearing. This couple was very loudly arguing in front of their room and one of their visitor was still in the apartment, so there was actually another person staying with them that was not registered. I asked them to stop screaming so my other guests could sleep and they went inside. They said nothing about the A/C being broken at any time until the next day at check out, the woman came in for the refund and she told me A/C is broken. It was never about the pool ( actually sparkling clean) or broken A/C, which could be easily remedied, but about dislike of our rules.

Lots of eating options in walking or driving distance. Walking distance for the beach. You had to pay to walk on the boardwalk. The place is older. We did go without water for 2 hours. Outlets were a premium. Hard to find. The coffee maker didn’t work so they brought us a portable. They had a power strip inside the dresser drawer in the front room. The also had a power strip hanging from the fridge that was over t to he kitchsink. The mattress in the main bedroom was really firm and the blankets were comfortable.

Thank you for staying with us and for your review. We work continuously to make our rooms comfortable and with all the essentials. That, in some rooms may be extension cord to allow more outlets. Unfortunately, during your stay we had minor plumbing problem in another room that, however, could not be fixed without water turned off to the whole building, for couple of hours. It can be part of ongoing upkeep of any property.

It was perfect! Clean nice and felt like home. If you want to just chill out and eat in instead of out all the time, this is the place. We enjoyed the grill that they had available for us to use.

Stayed at the property for a week and had a great time!! It’s a block from the beach. Owner was wonderful. The only minor complaint was the bed slid around and needs replacing. Again, very minor complaint because I loved the place and would definitely stay there again and recommend!!

A gem
This is a gem! A little rough around the edges but look pass how old the buildings are and see all the charm this place has to offer! The owner was amazing and made sure we had everything we needed. The area was safe and beautiful. A 2 minute walk to the beach. Would stay here again!!
