Had to stay the night in Vallarta due to rain storm. Had stayed at this hotel many years ago. Very happy it is still a great stay.

US Resort in MX; not a true MX experience

Posted Jul 31, 2017 on Hotels
This is a typical Tourist Resort in Mexico. The prices for food, etc. are similar to US prices. Dinners on site were minimum $12-15 pp with no alcohol. I was sick one AM and ate toast and a Sprite. The price was $7 US in a restaurant (not room service). 15% gratuity is automatic in all restaurants. Wifi was an outrageous $7-8US at hour! Insane! If you are looking to really experience Mexico, the culture, the people, the city of Vallarta, this is NOT the place. Everyone speaks English even if you try to speak Spanish. The beds, the AC, the facilities are all very good-great overall. The AC was either on (very cold) or off (still cool). The pressure for attending Timeshare presentations was minor. At check in, they tried to stick us in a 3rd story room with no elevator!!! I think because I had booked the room via hotels.com. Got the room changed but it was clear we were being places in less desirable locations due to deal we had gotten on line. On the flip side, an item was accidentally pickup with towels by maid service. Security acted quickly, and it was returned the next day. The weater in the summer months (we were there mid to late July 2017) is very hot and very, very humid with lots of mosquitos around greenery. PV is very nice. I will be back to PV but will likely not stay at this site.
