Pleasant stay

Normally you drive up to a hotel and register. At this hotel you had to drive on either side of the hotel and park and go to the elevator and go up to the first floor. Parking garage was across the street. Room was adequate with a murphy bed and pull out couch for two children and a bedroom for adults. Fire alarm went off to leave the hotel but it did not affect our floor and were told it was on the 8th floor and we were on the 1st. I have to admit you could not miss the alarm which was more than adequate if an actual emergency affected us. Everyone was very pleasant and helpful.

Wonderful stay and within walking distance to our entertainment for the weekend. Oceanfront room was wonderful with a perfect view.

A must place to stay

Pros: All the creature comforts. Kitchen, washer,dryer
Cons: Front desk to smile and be friendly

Great place to stay - overlook the front desk staf

Pros: The room was fabulous
Cons: Front desk customer service is simply awful
Location: you're right near Main St. so go for a stroll and check out the local places. The beach! You're waterfront. Enjoy!
What I found is that Avista has one common complaint: front desk customer service. That, too, was a complaint for me, but I've stayed at lots of different places in the Myrtle Beach area, and I have found two that I would say I'd come back to again and again. Avista is one of them. Outside of the front desk, my stay was fabulous. The hotel itself is nice. The room was clean. I did not try the restaurant or bars here, so I cannot speak to them. I can say that the pool area and beach access were clean, organized, and nice. If you're looking for a ton of stuff to do, this probably isn't the place for you. There are a couple of small pools, 2 lazy rivers (one inside and one out) and a few hot tubs. The pool area is not overly large, but it is well maintained and clean. There was ample hot water. The bathroom was HUGE and clean. In many resorts in this area, I find that the rooms are damp. I'm not sure what Avista does, but the room didn't have that beachy mildew feel or smell. The parking garage is tight - especially on the ramp, but there is plenty of parking (in a garage) so your car is secure.

Beach right there , outside pool area nice, rooms were nice liked having a suite.

Typical 3.5 start hotel on a perfect walking beach

I do not usually care about check-in but it really does put one in the right mood for a vacation. I realize that many will think that this is silly, but I really thought that the lobby was not nearly as nice as the hotel (the opposite of usual). I love fun color combinations but the lime green paint just seemed to scream with the cool carpet. The woman who did the check-in was clearly bored and did not explain about the parking card, the DVD rental or how to use the safe. The room was great with a large bathroom. We had booked oceanfront via Expedia which was not available so were phoned right after booking and told that we were given an oceanview room - would have been nice had we been given a discount but not a big deal. We got an email from Expedia VIP promising free drinks which turned out to be two bottles of water - not exactly what we imagined but I guess that was free drinks! Although there are many lovely pools, the outdoor ones are not heated (except for the two spas) and there is not a pool sufficiently long to swim lengths. We made great use of the beach chairs on the sand.

Pros: It was next to the beach.
Cons: Ladies be more friendly.try to have a conversation with the customer .
Location: We loved relaxing on the beach and did some shows and shopping.
It’s a older building , clean but We stayed over a week . Had to asked to get my bed clothes changed. Some of the ladies on the desk wasn’t very friendly.overall was a ok hotel.

Nice.

Stayed 4 nights in an ocean view room in 16th floor ... room was bigger than expected, had kitchen with oven, stovetop, microwave, blender, coffee maker etc. also a washer and dryer in the closet of bedroom. Tv in sitting area and bedroom. Hotel offers free movie rentals in lobby , sort of like a redbox. That was nice for late evenings if we didn't wanna go out. Pool area looked nice (we went to beach everyday instead). Beach is beautiful and accessible from hotel. I guess I didn't do enough research cause I thought the hotel would have chairs available on the beach for hotel guests, but not the case. You can rent them for 25$ day if you need to. All in all, it's not the fanciest, cleanest resort I've ever been to. But it's got everything you need and plenty of room so I would stay there again.

Get a way...

Had a great get a way extended weekend with my sister. The only thing I wish I knew was that everything closes down really early in the off season. ie barefoot landing and Broadway. Hotel was great and centrally located in North Myrtle!
