Great Value, Beautiful Resort

Pros: Spa, coffee demo, pottery demo, wood fired oven baked treats, remoteness, beauty
We came back after a great stay last year. We found more to offer than last year such as the coffee tour and pottery demo. Enjoyed both. The spa is the greatest attraction here though- it's a nice ride back through forest to the spa- it's very remote- but it's incredible. The pools are great, different temps, mud baths, etc. Had breakfast included- it was perfect with all the American and Tico style dishes. Had dinner buffet- it was pretty good quality- especially good value.

Pros: great views, great food, nice rooms. almost the last place on the road.
Cons: more light in rooms.
Location: great access to local hiking trails, tour options available
Enjoyed 2 nights and explored many trails on foot. Comfortable and safe facility. Would happily return.

Wonderful location in natural ranch setting.

Cons: Refrigerator & different coffee maker.
Location: See " my experince" comments.
This is our third stay there. Other two stays were 8&10 years ago. The number of rooms has been increased dramatically- ours opened to nature with a view to the west. The altitude is quite high, thus magnificent views of the land around and below, as well as the ocean in far distance. Terrific sunset! Beds were great in these newer rooms, as was the room itself. Coffee maker left a little to be desired! We all enjoyed the spa and waterfall and walking available included. I enjoyed the 3waterfall trail ride! ( second time i have done it). It would be nice to have a refrigerator - there are no stores nearby. Overall, I love the place.

wind storm

nice place, unfortunately we arrived during a gale force wind storm, so all of the activities on the resort were cancelled. no fault of the hotel management, but just be aware, this can happen

Nice but overpriced for food and drinks

Beautiful destination, inconvenient journey

The Buena Vista Lodge is a good place to stay if you're not planning to leave the property too much. It's a beautiful area with great views of the surrounding regions. It is just a little difficult to get to as it is situated on top of a mountain with unpaved roads. I'd recommend taking a shuttle up or if you are renting a car, DEFINITELY get an SUV. The room was a good size and was clean. Breakfast was excellent considering it was included in th price. Would stay again if I was spending more time.

60 year wedding anniversary

We had a 60 year wedding anniversary family reunion with 19 people. We stayed a week and went to the beach 2 days but also enjoyed the facilities they have there. Great place!

Very reasonable priced, great breakfast

My wife slipped and badly hurt her hand. The hotel staff sent a doctor to the room. He was very caring and took care by providing medicine and putting bandage. He then inquired about her well being multiple times. The manager was very friendly as well. The property provides a nice mud bath and hot spring for no extra charge. This was a great experience.
