Thank you for comment! Our location offers real tranquility as it is located on the secluded Langosta Beach, 10 minutes away from the hustle and bustle of Tamarindo. Regarding lighting in the room, we will share your feedback with maintenance manager. We will work together to find a solution. I hope you can visit Cala Luna again in a near future.

Lovely hotel with an even lovelier staff

Posted Feb 26, 2017
Pros: STAFF!!! Breakfast, while not expansive was fantastic. Pool was perfect, lots of chairs, lots of sun and shade. Beach was rough and beautiful
Cons: Doors can be frustrating to lock and unlock, didn't consistently work, but always got it going eventually.
Location: Easy access to town, but tucked away enough that you don't get harassed by vendors while on the beach.
My wife and I just finished up a week here and it was fantastic. The hotel staff were above and beyond our expectations, both in execution and in attitude. The grounds and room were beautiful. The monkeys, as advertised, howled. The beach was secluded (which we wanted) and while some may prefer the more swimming friendly sandier beaches up and down the coast, we loved the mix of soft sand, shade and rough lava rocks that caused much more dramatic breaking of the waves. The hotel had bikes you could borrow for the short jaunt into town and we took advantage every day. It was such a pleasant way to get there and back, the breeze making it nicer than walking. The breakfast each morning was great, lots of fresh fruit and great breads, plantains, potatoes, delicious homemade preserves and fruit juices and most importantly a fresh delicious French press pot of coffee or two every time. We had some minor issues with the room and equipment that were all addressed pleasantly and quickly as soon as the staff were made aware. All in all we loved it and will definitely be going back one day.

Beach resort that treats you like family

Posted Feb 14, 2017
Exceptional and always with a friendly and genuine smile. Special notes: - go out of way to take care of you - breakfast is delicious from coffee to omelettes to homemade jams - steps to secluded beach and minutes frpm town - sunset cocktails on the beach - dinner is gourmet - front desk and staff are a"Primo" I will return to this exceptional resort.

Mostly good!

Posted Feb 12, 2017
It's very hard to find the hotel as there are no street signs and the staff doesn't really know how to direct you other than "put it in your gps". Ours didn't work in the area so we had to wing it. It's down a really really bumpy road. Like, damage your car, bumpy. The hotel itself is great! They offer you a cold towel and juice drink when you arrive. The lobby is open with comfy seating, beautiful decor and artwork. Check-in was easy and the bellboy was very nice and helpful. He took us to our room and showed us all the workings (tv, air conditioner, bathroom, etc.) We had a 1 bdrm suite and loved it. Very spacious, modern, and gorgeous. But be warned, ants and gnats are everywhere! This is to be expected because you're essentially in the jungle, but just be prepared. They were all over our room. We requested they come and spray and they did immediately. That was a temporary fix though. The breakfast buffet was good. But check the food because bugs are still everywhere (it's an open space also). The excursions were fun! I would compare what they offer to other companies though. From what I saw, you get more for your money with other companies depending on what you want to do. They don't have a gym but a nearby hotel allows you to use theirs (which is very small but effective - 1 treadmill). The pool area is nice but the beach is rocky. They offer bikes to ride into town for free. It's also walkable. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Great spot close to Tamarindo town!

Posted Feb 4, 2017
Nice little resort with daily visits at the pool by the local Howler monkeys. We really enjoyed our stay here, nice and quiet with fantastic staff. The evening sunset drinks on the beach topped it off nicely. The beach is not the greatest for swimming, but excellent for walking and enjoying the tidal pools. A short -ish walk down the beach and you are in Tamarindo. Breakfast was the best we had while travelling Costa Rica. Great fruit and lovely fresh juices daily. Lunch menu was nice and we wish it would have been offered through supper to give us lighter choices. Over all a great stay....we would go back:)
