A very quaint and unique hotel with a restaurant that has some of the best food I’ve eaten anywhere in the world. I was slightly worried because someone said there were howler monkeys that kept them awake but me and the kids did see or hear any during our stay.

Great hotel with a friendly staff. It was a very comfortable stay. This part of the beach is the absolute cleanest along all of this section. I always find the food a bit expensive at these places, $24 for a burger. However, it was of good quality. A walk over to the next street will find you a grocery store and adjoined sopa with cheaper options.

Tranquility at the beach. Personable and attentive staff great location and very nice rooms. If you want a quiet resort where you can see monkeys and iguanas this is the place.

The hotel property is beautiful, but the hotel lacks some very basic things, which did not make it worth the money in my opinion. No umbrellas or shades in the beach (they rely on shade by trees, which did not always work and had all guests pulling chairs around), very narrow beach access next to a public beach entrance with lots of people. The pool did not have lights (inside the pool or in the surrounding area) making it difficult to use at night. There was not wet bar/snack area....there is only one restaurant (main floor) and one bar area (second floor) but neither allow swimsuits and there was no service by the pool. This kind of broke our day because we had to dress up to have lunch in the middle of the day. The safe in the room did not work and it took two calls for staff to tell us it was the batteries that often run out and they ended up giving us a key instead of using the code option. The hotel did not include breakfast and there was no bottled water provided like other hotels we stayed at in Costa Rica. The a/c unit was loud and seemed to take a long time to cool. There were monkeys climbing trees over the pool area right outside the rooms. It was fun for the kids, but these are howling monkeys super loud as early as 4am and it made me thing they probably were pooping into the pool. So fun, but not in a practical sense. Other than this, we enjoyed free parking across the street and the convenience of a smaller boutique hotel right next to the beach (steps away).

We stayed at Hotel Bosque Del Mar both for one night when we first arrived in Costa Rica and on our last night. It’s about 20 minutes from the airport, but we loved the location and the amenities at the hotel. The rooms were spacious and clean, we liked the food at the restaurant, and we enjoyed walking the beach and swimming in the pool and sitting in the hot tub. Without a doubt, I would choose to stay at this hotel again as the first and last stop in Costa Rica for relatively easy access to the airport. The staff is kind and accommodating. Fantastic, all around.

What a wonderful find of this boutique hotel. Ocean view room had two big picture windows overlooking the beach with balcony and living room. Bath tub outside on deck. Up and walked beach at 6 am 25 minutes from airport.

Property was beautiful and rooms were very nice. Restaurant is very good, and bar serves happy hour every day from 5-7pm. Property is isolated from any town if you do not have a car. Beach is beautiful. They need to work on beach amenities like lounging chairs and towels which are all quite worn down. Also pool area could be kept nicer since leaves are a big problem. There is a huge potential but it needs more attention. For relaxation, it is a great place. But not much more.

This property is very old, and it has not been renovated. There are wasps in the room, and I have gotten bitten.We have noticed that there are glass doors which does not close and there is mesh with lot of holes through which wasps come into room. No fan in any of those rooms, it was pretty hot, only option is to open the patio door, but it brings wasps into the room

Beautiful hotel with average staff
Beautiful grounds and everything is a 30 second walk which makes it nice for familes with small children. Some of the staff were great like the parking lot attendant who volunteered to wash my car at no charge but ither hotel employees (restaurant staff) are inattentive and extremely forgetful. Some also seemed quite annoyed with some of our average requests. Overall, nice hotel but the staff could use an upgrade.

I absolutely loved everything about this hotel. We stayed in several hotels in Costa Rica and this was by far our favorite. Beautiful and right inside of nature, spacious while still feeling private, clean and stunningly designed rooms, the kindest staff, great help with connecting us for tours, walkable to the beach in just 1 second, great restaurant and delicious beverages, incredible spa services, and great location to other things to do in the city, this hotel exceeded my expectations and we will certainly be back.

Do not go. Do not ! Plumbing issue makes entire rooms smell like poo. We got moved three times and all poo smell. At First staff tried to mask it with Febreeze or some odor masking spray. So strong we couldn't be inside until it went away made us choke . Then the poo smell came back. Security boxes don't work. Sound of street super loud. Worst part is we later saw the owner manager that was supposed to help take care of issue at a bar. On a date. With a guest of The hotel! Do not book here
