Pros: Location and staff!
Cons: Your dinner reservations needed to be made days in advance is ridiculous. Its a vacation and other all inclusive resorts allow you to just show up.
Hotel location is beautiful. Natural surrounding gorgeous. Staff was wonderful Hotel rooms are okay. They need more storage for your clothes. At least one dresser as there is not a single drawer in the room to store your clothes. The food was good but being force to make dinner reservations 5 days in advance is ridiculous. I have been to many all inclusive resorts and most allow you to just show up or make same day reservation of the restaurant of your choice. The best is the restaurants are only half full because of how you force the reservations. We walked up to one open air restaurant that only had 3 of the 30 tables full and they wouldn't allow us in because they said they were booked!!!! Not one time did I see any of the restaurants even 3/4 full. It would of been nice to have other options for breakfast than the buffet or room service. I would also expect pool side servers but we only had that 2 out of the seven days we were there.

We enjoyed the resort. Staff was so friendly and helpful! They constantly were checking if we needed drinks etc. while were lounging in the pool! Felt very pampered! Loved the spa! However the beach was not my favorite. You have to walk through local vendors selling their things to get to the beach. Made me feel a bit uncomfortable!

Dear Anonymous, Thank you very much for sharing your kind comments. We're glad to hear that you had a great time with us and enjoyed the warm service of our people, and also enjoyed the services of our Spa. Regarding your remarks about the beach, please note that all the beaches in Costa Rica are public by law, that's why it is difficult to us to control the external activity of this area, and appreciate your understanding about this matter. Thanks again for your comments, and hope to have you back soon! Warm regards,

Westin playa conchal royal service adults only are

Posted Feb 19, 2017
Pros: Loved the friendly and helpful staff. The beach, food, and seeing the monkeys.
Location: About 1/2 hour drive to Tarmindo, walk to a little town.
Loved this hotel. Bergen our concierge was great so helpful and friendly. The adults only area was quiet and beautiful. The royal service restaurant was quiet, the food was outstanding. Great fresh fruits and vegetables. Plenty of choices for breakfast and lunch. The dinner restaurants were great. The beach was spectacular. The wild life on the property was amazing. A great vacation to rest and recharge. The weather hot and sunny, nice change from February in the northeast.

Pros: The garden setting and the condo type houses for our rooms was really nice.
Cons: screens on the doors/windows so we could sleep with them open and turn off the air, we enjoy listening to the night and early morning sounds of nature
This was a business incentive trip. One thing that I didn't expect was the beach was not private so when we spent time in the ocean it felt like we were vacationing on one of the local beaches, so we felt a little too removed from the resort at times.

Pros: Beautiful landscape great rooms
Cons: Some trees pruned to have better view of pool
Location: We went hiking, bud baths, horseback riding, overlooks swinging bridges. There are zip-lining, rafting, fishing, lots to choose from
Everything was wonderful. My suite overlooked the pool, large room 2 separate TV's great bathroom. Swim up bar, several great restaurants to choose from. Concierge was wonderful Jairo took care of our reservations, took us where we needed to be and even chose some great destinations for our excursions.

Awkward room designs with no privacy

Posted Dec 28, 2016
Pros: nice environment, live animals in the hotel were kinda creepy made us feel we were in jungle...
Cons: Water should be hot, front glass doors should to be tinted so we have some privacy
Didn't enjoy our stay.... I need my shower to have hot water, this barely had warm water... Bedroom oversee two large glass front doors. You have make sure you cartons are always on... we had junior family suite, had to make kids don't keep opening the cartons. There were lizards in the room, which was very annoying for kids and ladies...

Nice Hotel Close to the beach

Posted Dec 28, 2016
Pros: Nice friendly staff. Excellent beach
Cons: waiter to serve drinks on the beach.
Location: Didnt leave property. spent most of time mainly on the beach/resort. heard there is good ziplining/canopy nearby (Congo National Park).
Excellent beach but public. they have a small secluded area for westin guests. they do provide beach chairs and umbrellas. they do bring you bottled water occasionally but dont serve you drinks. you have to get up and go back inside the resort to the bar to get your drinks. getting approched constantly by vendors was annoying (water sports, massage). very nice resort. Very pricy though. Staff is friendly (reception, shuttle). We were there for 2 nights. All inclusive. make sure you make dinner reservations ahead of time for the restaurants (they cannot accomodate a lot of people). We tried the brazillian style restaurant and the latin restaurant. They did put up a nice christmas show. Hotel is an hour from the airport. wouldnt mind going back but next time will try tamarindo beach.

Excellent choice! Relaxing time in CR

Posted Nov 20, 2016
Pros: Everything: staff, food, grounds, room, pool...
Cons: WiFi
Location: Tamarindo is about 15 minutes away, but there is nothing to do there.
If you are looking for a relaxing time in CR this is the place! We travel a lot and have been to many different islands, always stayed at 5 star resorts and double the price, so didn't have much expectation for this place. But we were very impressed with service, food, the grounds and the room of this hotel. The service is excellent, every single staff member goes above and beyond to provide your every need, beginning with shuttle bus drivers, restaurant reservation desk, room service, and even the hostess at the buffet (hi Sylvia:)). The food is really good and healthy! The best restaurant we liked was Catalinas and Italian, but other restaurants were very good as well. Even buffet food was exellent! Hotel grounds were very nicely done and felt very private. We saw some animals, like squirrels, cats and a lot of iguanas. Only saw one coati and once saw monkeys. That was a little disappointing because I was expecting to see a lot more wild animals on the property. The pool area had many lounge chairs and they were empty. You don't have to reserve your chair at 6 am like in other resorts. The pool was large and the water was just the right temperature. Warm and refreshing. The beach I didn't like very much. The ocean had waves and the sand was not fine, and was hurting my feet. Bring shoes to walk on sand. The hotel is about an hour from LIR airport and I found it cheaper to rent a car than to get a taxi or shuttle for 2.
