Excellent

Posted Dec 14, 2017
Pros: Everything
Location: Lots to do around North Shore without going to Honolulu or Waikiki which are more touristy.
Staff very friendly and attentive to every need of the guests. Wonderful spacious room and view of the surf. Very clean. Everything was perfect.

Beautiful hotel

Posted Dec 14, 2017
Turtle bay resort was a great experience. There is a 360 view of the ocean with lush trees. The staff was great and great options for food. Bring your own snorkel gear because the 9 days I was there they would not let us rent their snorkel gear because it was too rough. I would not recommend going in November as the wind was very powerful to a point we could not go in the pool.

Ripped off on arrival for the ridiculous fees

Posted Dec 10, 2017
We were charged US$46 a day on arrival for resort fees. You can't stay there without paying these so why aren't they included in the cost of the room up front? And even then you have to pay extra to use various facilities. And the resort itself is not completely up to scratch. It's looking tired. The cost of food and drinks was exorbitant because there are not many places nearby to eat. There were no baggage trolleys available in reception to use. There were several but only the porters could use them. We wouldn't stay there again.

We stayed in the beach cottages and loved it.

Posted Dec 10, 2017
Pros: Secluded location, away from the hustle and bustel of the city, smaller resort so not crowded.
Cons: The food still needs work, it’s always so close but somethings always just a bit off (burnt or raw sides). More healthy options would also be nice.
Location: Relaxed drive to many attractions like Kualoa ranch, Polynesian cultural center, ziplining, horseback riding (also on site), Honolulu shopping.
The cottages have a secluded private feel. Not really beach front as it is rocky in this area but that makes for no traffic. We really enjoy a more relaxed private atmosphere and this is not a mega hotel like many in Hawaii, so that is a given. Third time staying here, pricing and their billing strategy has really increased a lot - gratuities included in everything yet receipts still have a tip line. Some confusion amongst staff re how th pricing works for say the private pool cabanna rentals -cost is $125/day and we were told your poolside resto bill would be credited $50, but really only $75 cabana rental with a $50 poolside restaurant minimum. Whe we received our poolside resto bill it we were shocked as there was no credit, and it seemed as though we were paying $125 for the cabanna plus the $90 food & drinks bill (so $215 for the day!). Neither waitress nor manager she called realized how things were being billed. BUT they cleared this up quickly, professionally & in a gracious manner. Pricing in general for the spa seems high; service at the spa is great but it’s no million dollar experience, especially the relaxation area needs a bit more polish ($440 for a 50 min couples massage, $119 for a standard pedi). Check your bill carefully. Our expedia +VIP 15% off was not applied at the time of the service, cottages & villas have the same number, we had charges to our cottage from the villa with the same number, but staff fixed this no questions asked at checkout.

North Shore Gem

Posted Dec 8, 2017
Pros: Room comfort & quality Resort grounds and beach Decent parking Central location Good food options on site and around
Cons: Minor points: Vista level has it's own breakfast, the quality is really good, but could be presented in a more elegant way. Room needs better vacuum
Location: At location: beautiful grounds, enough food & drinking options Nearby: Banzai pipeline, shrimp trucks, matsumoto's ice cream, Waimea valley
Beautiful property, good central location on the north shore. Weather was windy and rainy, but still had a great experience in the resort and nearby. Had the vista level ocean room. Excellent on-site dining (make sure to try the Pa'akai and Lei Lei's), close to Romy's shrimp truck, Matsumoto's shave ice. Great, modern room. Awesome to have a bathtub with ocean view! And thanks for the bathing salts!

Great Honeymoon Stay

Posted Dec 4, 2017
Pros: Loved the scenery, location and staff.
Cons: I couldn't find one thing to complain about during our stay.
Location: You must go to the food trucks located in the North Shore. Giovanni's, Ted's Bakery and Polynesian Cultural Center.
From the drive up the coast to the North Shore I knew this would be a memory of a lifetime. The scenery surrounding the resort is simply stunning. Being the only hotel around and not being crammed in like other hotels in Waikiki is a major plus. You have a sense that you're the only people around. Having the private beach to yourself makes it feel like you have you own private island. The staff are warm and friendly and the view from all the rooms are just stunning. You have views of the beautiful waves and the enchanting mountains. Each morning sitting on the balcony was like waking up from a dream to continue into a new dream. I highly recommend staying at the vista level to get the complimentary breakfast. Each day we were treated to an array of tasty food and treats.
