Glorified Travelodge

Posted Aug 10, 2015
Pros: Location
Cons: Air con, sound proofing, beds
I had high hopes for this hotel as the location is excellent. Sadly it was a basic room. The bed was tiny - a standard double most hotels have king beds as standard now. Also the duvet was tiny and barely reached the side of the bed. There is also no air conditioning so the rooms are like saunas. Finally the walls are paper thin so noise travels easily between adjoining rooms and the corridor. If we were back in York again I think I'd stay at the Travelodge across the road as you know what to expect there!

Central hotel, clean and simple

Posted Aug 1, 2015
Hotel was clean, and nicely decorated. Rooms were spacious, but very warm. Staff were friendly and helpful. Car parking was manic. Breakfast was nice, staff helpful although scrambled eggs were interesting. Was like a upgraded premier inn, location was great, will defiantly return.

Good Location within walking distance of town

Posted Jul 28, 2015
Pros: Clean, modern and very comfortable
Cons: Room could do with being re-arranged to make it a little less cramped.
Location: Cetral location means York and its attractions are within walking distance. Wetherspoons opposite for good value meals and drinks.
We only stayed the one and as it was the only room they had, we booked a family room. Although we can't fault the cleanliness and comfort, it was a little cramped with both beds in it.

Convenient

Posted Jul 26, 2015
Pros: Friendly staff, good location.
Cons: Breakfasts - too greasy.
Location: Very convenient for a city break - all attractions within easy walking distance.
The hotel is very convenient for a city break. Car parking looked a bit dodgy but the cars are locked in at night. There was a lot of noise from the street below at night but thankfully this did not go on beyond midnight. Breakfast was disappointing - they need a new toasting machine - better breakfasts at the Premier Inn we stayed at in Halifax!!

Nice modern hotel very close to the city centre.

The reception staff welcomed us warmly and efficiently. We found them very pleasant and helpful any time we made an enquiry. Dining room and housekeeping staff were also very pleasant. The hotel has a nice airy feel to it, our room looked out the back into a courtyard with trees. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone going to York. It is within walking distance of the the city centre, the Minster and other sites of interest within this lovely city.
