Our stay in the Park Inn York.

Posted Jan 26, 2016
Pros: It's position near the station and city.
Cons: The price is to high for the service the hotel gives. See what I wrote about my experience!
We stayed two nights in the Park Inn. The hotel was central to the City of York, but there were a number of niggely things not right. The room was very cold and the air-condition did not work, when I phoned the desk about it I was told the temperature was 18 degree. I had to insist that it was to cold, so a heater was brought, that was fine. There was only one set of towels in the bathroom, the other set was in a draw, only found on the second day. the soap dispenser was difficult to use, perhaps there was not to much soap in the dispensers. I booked with breakfast, but was told there was no breakfast included The room was small with only one chair, but it was clean and the bed was comfortable. I found the hotel was to expensive for the little bit questionable service we revived. I would not stay there again! .

Excellent position

Posted Jan 22, 2016
Pros: I like the refurbished rooms, friendly and helpful staff, and the location.
Cons: Cheaper car parking, and of course for the fitness centre to reopen on site.
Location: Within 5-10 mins walk there are all the shops you can want, Yorkminster, museums, bars and restaurants.
I have stayed at this hotel for leisure several times and over the last few years the rooms have been refurbished to a high quality. The hotel is well situated and 5 minutes from the central stores and attractions. There is limited parking available on site and a NCP car park 2 roads away. Neither is cheap but are handy. The staff throughout the hotel are very friendly and helpful and the food at breakfast and in the bar is very good ( I didn't try the restaurant). My only disappointment was that I was not aware that the fitness centre is no longer there and I had to go to one which was a few roads away instead (Emperors - £5 day pass). Overall though it was (as usual) a vey nice experience.

Cons: Rooms.
Noisy room, we were on the 7th floor but were woken up early morning by sound of breaking glass! Bed generally too hard and room not as comfortable as a Premier Inn. Parking is also expensive and as a resident of the hotel, I think it should be included in the general stay.

Das Hotel liegt in der Nähe des Ortszentrums. Der Bahnhof, die Museen und Sehenswürdigkeiten sind bequem zu Fuß zu erreichen. Das Personal ist überaus freundlich und hilfsbereit.

Staff coped very well with recent flooding problem

Posted Dec 29, 2015
Pros: Refurbished room, although on the small side with shower no bath. Very nice bar, snack area overlooking the river.
Location: Short walk to nearby restaurants and shops.
We stayed 2 night when the floods were raging in York. The staff coped very well when inundated with questions etc. Unfortunately the fire alarm went off at 3:30 am, apparently due to an electrical fault caused by the flood water. We naturally had to evacuate the building and the incident officer did a roll call. It was nearly an hour before we were allowed back into our rooms, its fortunate it was a mild dry night. There was no offer of compensation only a small discount towards overnight parking at NCP which we had to ask for. In spite of all the drama I would stay here again because the location, rooms and price were excellent.

Great hotel, unfortunate fire alarm incident.

Posted Dec 29, 2015
I enjoyed my stay in the Park Inn hotel, the rooms were very clean and modern with a excellent shower and lots of space. The location is perfect for anyone visiting York. Unfortunately on my second night the fire alarm went off at 4am. We were all evacuated outside and waiting around 30 mins before we were let back in, this led to me unable to sleep for the rest of the night and lead me to cancel my plans for the day after as I was completely wiped out. I think the alarm was because of a fault related to the floods. It was a shame because I really enjoyed my stay and can't fault the hotel itself. Would have liked an offer of free breakfast or money off my stay, But I understand due to the flooding, electrical issues were going to occur. Overall though and excellent stay at a great hotel.

Clean comfy hotel

Posted Dec 17, 2015
Pros: Location, comfort
Cons: Include breakfast and free parking
Stayed here for the first time, was very impressed. You do have to pay for parking and breakfast is extra too but all we wanted was a base in a central location and we got the hotel free with nectar points so couldn't complain. The room was clean and comfy, the staff were very helpful , check in and out no problem, room ready early. We were put in a high room which was good as there was an event on downstairs. We didn't hear anything but there were a couple of noisy people coming to bed at 3 am. Location is great and in the morning we went to Bishopthorpe road for breakfast(slightly out of town) and ate at the Pig and Pastry. It was fab .
