Pros: All of the things outlined above.
Cons: The only slight grouse was that the water in the shower and sink was only lukewarm at best. Staff promised to address this.
Location: Fifteen minute walk into York centre. Plenty of eating places on the way in and public transport available.
We were made very welcome. The hotel suited our needs, the staff were pleasant and helpful and the accommodation was clean and comfortable. The breakfasts were good, with plenty of choice. Car parking was if required.

Pros: Convenient location , reasonable pricing and huge breakfast.
Location: At the city walls almost and a straight walk up to town.
The pub itself does not open until 3pm but when we arrived about midday it was possible to leave our car in the very tiny car park to go and explore the city. It's about a 10 minute easy walk up to the centre. Our room was pleasant, very clean, warm with adjustable radiator. Breakfast was amazing with a very varied choice and set us up for the trip home. Only four stars because of the cramped car park conditions.

Pros: Traditional pub. Friendly staff. Walking distance to York town centre. Good price for bed and breakfast.
Location: 5 minutes walk into central York.
Really lovely hotel, very friendly staff and the room was small and cosy/ Sayed over 2 nights, breakfast was good. Had a meal on the first night of two burgers and a few drinks. Really nice not to be in a pub with rooms. Would recommend and will be staying here in the future when we stop over in York again.

Pros: Quaint and comfortable, friendly and accomodating staff
Cons: Wifi connection was often spotty, far from rail station, plumbing was strange (water sputtered and stopped sometimes)
Location: Very close to the roman wall in York as well as the historic Rose & Crown pub

The hotel is 2 minutes from the city walls. The room was great, clean and exactly what you would expect from pub lodgings. Great value for money for the location. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. The food was delicious we had breakfast and dinner. Great selection of beers and ciders and a beautiful well tended beer garden out the back. I would go again.

Pros: The staff, food, beer choice and location were absolutely fine.
Cons: Serious cleaning in the bathroom of room 6.
Location: York centre a 15 minute walk away but plenty of bars and eateries on the journey.
Check in and check out were fine. Staff were lovely and helpful. Breakfasts were very nice and good portion size. Room was small but ok (too much unnecessary furniture). Mattress was horrible and like sleeping on concrete and the bathroom whilst appearing clean at first glance was not. Lots of mildew around the seals and joints and some unattractive stains on the shower cubicle next to the toilet, the cause of which was quite clear.
