Nice surprise on visit to see friendsPosted Dec 10, 2014
Pros: Friendly staff, great room, comfortable bed, cleanliness, relaxed atmosphere.
Selected this B&B mainly due to its closeness to see friends. Their check-in times were listed as 3-8pm and as my flight didn't land till 9:30 was concerned about ability to get in. One of the staff stayed up until 11:30p to let me in, show me around and make me feel comfortable. The room, bed and other aspects of the facilities were great. Would not hesitate to recommend this place to family and friends.

It really is a "charming" B&B.Posted Dec 21, 2013 on Hotels
Lovely, remote property, surrounding area is safe, woodsy, and pretty. Check-in was easy. Every staff person we met was warm, friendly, and helpful. We didn't drive but parking on-site did not appear to be an issue, although we were there during off-season. Lots of interesting furniture and little sitting nooks. Books, games, and DVDs are available. Stayed in the Chesapeake room, was comfortable and clean. We had a large jet tub (takes a long time to fill) in the room. Bed was surprisingly comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty: buffet-style continental and make-your-own waffles plus made-to-order egg options; first day was omelettes, second was individual quiches. The only drawbacks we experienced were minor. 1) There is no elevator and our room was on 3rd floor; but it IS a B&B in a converted house, so that's not really a surprise and the gentleman who checked us in kindly carried our giant suitcase up for us. 2) Although the jet tub was huge, the actual shower in our room was smallish, big enough for me (I'm only 5'1") but I can see it being cramped for a bigger person. 3) Although our view was nice, from the room description on the website, I expected the window in the room to be larger. 4) I would've liked a suitcase stand in the room, we had to leave our suitcase on the floor and walk around it. Also, just a note to people unfamiliar with the area: there is nowhere to go for food within walking distance, although this was not an issue for us because we did not expect that, given the area. Again, all minor drawbacks, listed for the sake of thoroughness. Oh! And yummy treats - cookies, merengues, fudge - and coffee, tea, and hot cocoa were available all day. Overall, it was lovely and charming and we would definitely recommend/come back again.

I loved my room. Fabulous food. It bothered me a lot that there were 3 of us staying in different rooms. Mine was not "nicer than anyone else's". however I paid $35.00 more per night than my friends. When I mentioned this they said that they could not give me any money back because they had lost money on the other bookings??? Oh well...Next time we will all book through one person. I felt it was a bit unfair...no need to post...just needs to be noted...

nice for a night get awayPosted Aug 26, 2013
Pros: It was quiet! If we had had more time there we would have liked to explore the grounds as we saw a lot of interest in the flier once we got home.
Cons: Someone to meet us when we arrived and more of an explanation about procedure for breakfast. A real door on the bathroom.
Location: It was about 15 minutes from Chesapeake City. Nice restaurants and bar scene in quaint town. close to D and C canal and museum.
We arrived around 6. Check in said between 3-8. We entered the home and saw no staff. We happened to notice an envelope placed on a table with our name on it. It contained the key. We wandered around the lower level and even walked out on the deck and saw no staff. Finally as we were heading up to the room to check it out a young man appeared. He was friendly and told us about nearby restaurants and about breakfast. We saw no one after that until breakfast the next day. No one greeted us when we came into the dining room. We felt like the only people there. breakfast was excellent even though it was all help yourself. The room we took was small and the only thing that would have made it nicer would have been a chair as the only place to sit in the room was on the bed. There was also a louvered closet door being used between the bedroom and bath room, so there was no privacy when using the bathroom.
