Horrible experience

Posted Dec 6, 2016
Stayed at this hotel with reservations upon my late arrival there was no one there to greet me went to front desk and the lady couldn't operate a printer and wanted my credit card information slams papers down in front me to go through to check my name gave me her master key to go to my room I had to leave my room open to them bring her the master key back to her at the front office and I had to do this quite some time quite a few times throughout the visit because I was never assigned a key also the shower fell apart on me there was no pots pans utensils coffee pot tea sugar nothing to accommodate the room and my sheets had marker writing on them although the staff didn't know what she was doing she tried her best to accommodate but it should never have had been like that

Terrible hotel

Posted Nov 17, 2016
The pictures look nothing like the actual inside of the building. The hotel is very outdated. It smells terrible like cigarette smoke and marijuana. Absolutely do not bring your kids to this hotel. The staff wasn't very friendly. It took me 4 hours just to get a cup to drink water. There are way better hotels in the area for the same price.

It worked for a night. But wouldn't recommend

Posted Oct 31, 2016
Pros: The staff was accommodating. I had two rooms that I wanted ajoined, but it was race weekend so they were all booked. He worked to get us on the same floor even though we were not originally.
Cons: Rooms were fairly clean. I've seen better, but for a lower end hotel, they were fine. However, the "breakfast" was cheap granola bars and cofffee. The AC in the room barely worked and was incredible loud. The dish package available for the kitchen was rusted as well. For over$100 I expected more.
Location: I was staying here for the Marine Corps Marathon, so it was close enough to the city.

Dirty room

Posted Oct 17, 2016
As I opened the room their were two trash bags sitting in the middle of the room with 6 dirty dish washing towels on the counter. As I made my way to the bed I noticed the sheets were not changed nor the bed made from when the previous guest left. I then went into the bathroom there were two used towels and a used soap in the bath tub not to mention hair follicles on the counter. I wouldn't recommend this hotel at all and I would give it a 1 out of 10 and that's being generous.

Nice Location - Visibly Old and not taken care of

Posted Sep 15, 2016
Pros: Location and availability
Cons: The hotel management should commit the time and funding to renovate the hotel. With the name being America's Best - it should reflect this.
Location: The hotel is located in Alexandria Va close by are the historic monuments and museums. The hotel is also within a short walk to the metro.
The room was a smoking room and as a smoker I thought the room smelled disgusting. Its like hotel staff never performed any deep cleaning. I would have expected the carpeting curtains etc to have been cleaned on some schedule clearly they were not. The window was left open with no screen to allow the room to air out at least. This is typical in recent years that hotel management do not care for smoking rooms beyond changing sheets, bath room and linens. The room was in complete disrepair with broken counter tops and stains on the carpeting.

To echo the negative comments from a previous reviewer, I attempted a late check-in and found myself locked out of the hotel, as no one answered the front desk extension. I was stuck in the vestibule for 10 minutes before a guest inside let me in. Once inside, I dialed the front desk extension from the lobby phone while calling the hotel's main line with my mobile. An answering service picked up, but neither apologized nor offered a solution. A guest came in and helped me by banging on some door. I don't know how he knew how to find an employee, but a person finally appeared. The woman informed me that the phone "wasn't ringing". (If the phone doesn't work, maybe don't leave the desk?) No apology. But this is not a customer service complaint. It sucks that low-level employees see nothing wrong with the situation, but why should they, when management doesn't see anything wrong with it? Not having a 24-hour front desk is not just inconvenient; it's not unpleasant, like a noisy air conditioner or a lumpy pillow; it is unsafe. This is a safety issue, one that management responded to a prior identical complaint by saying would be remedied. A month after the first complaint on this site, the issue has not been addressed. Don’t stay here. The place is tired and below standard for this brand, but that aside, checking in without major issues is a low bar to set for a hotel. This establishment can't provide that most basic level of service.

Room was not cleaned well. There were missing essentials as in toilet paper and towels. No warm greetings just not a pleasant place.

the best part of our stay was for one employee, Bachir, who made it wonderful. Very courteous and nice. Anything we asked for, he was always helpful. Even though, I booked the hotel through hotels.com adn asked for a queen bed and got a full, I will come back just for his customer service.
