Great location

Pros: Location.
Cons: Hotel needs an upgrade. Don't believe there was an elevator in the three story building. Made carrying luggage difficult. Great location!
Location: Old town Alexandria has so many restaurants you would never be able to eat at all of them. Shops, restaurants, bars, American history sites!

I needed a hotel to stay in for 2 nights for a getaway with my husband. I didn't really want to spend $170+ a night and then have to pay $35 to park daily on King St. I was slightly skeptical about being so far from Old Town but figured we could walk. However, they have a free shuttle that goes anywhere within 3 miles for free! It left every hour and half hour and then when you wanted to return, you just called and the longest we waited was 20 minutes! Wonderful service. We also enjoyed the free breakfast each morning. Wonderful selection of fruit, hard boiled eggs and scrambled eggs, a hot side that varied, cereal, coffee, tea, juice, a waffle maker, and more! The woman who kept the room clean and made sure there was enough food was so nice! Actually, all of the staff was very nice and helpful. We borrowed a DVD one night, and while the selection was scarce and older movies, there were definitely some good ones! (A beautiful mind, seven, etc.) Overall, very satisfied with the price and service. It was an older hotel so a lot was dated but it felt clean. We have already recommended to friends and will return when we come back. Thank you!

Friendly staff, nice breakfast

Pros: Staff, breakfast
Location: Hotel has shuttle to/from Metro.
Friendly helpful staff -- we had trouble finding the hotel using Google Maps and called for directions -- turns out we were about 1 block away. Friendly greetings in the morning and surprisingly good breakfast.

Great location and helpful staff

Pros: location and terrific staff
Cons: better cleaning of rooms
Location: a long walk or free shuttle ride to all the great attractions in Alexandria Old Town
The hotel is in a great location for seeing the sights in Alexandria and getting out to a terrific selection of restaurants. Free shuttle to take you to and from King St, Metro and airport with terrific, friendly staff. The breakfast area is nice with a variety of fresh fruit, cereal, toast, yogurt, hot selections, make-your-own waffle as many hotels have. But, the rooms are getting a bit shabby and not quite clean. Rust here and there and grout that needs better cleaning. Our first night the AC was not working and that didn't help.

Close to airport, clean. Be prepared to carry your baggage to second floor. No elevator.

Overbooked and left us without a replacement

They notified us via email 6 hours before check in that they were overbooked and we didn't have a room. We arrived to check in, and they tried to send us to another hotel... also overbooked. Long and short - we were left without a place to stay (huge convention in town, no rooms anywhere). We had made reservations a month in advance.

Good value for money

Pros: Free shuttle to and from Reagan Intl airport and Metro station, free breakfast, walking distance from several nice restaurants. No noisy in room AC
Cons: The hotel is a little dated and could be sprouced up. The room was clean and the beds comfortable.
Location: Excellent location close to Reagan Intl airport, Metro station and nice restaurants.
We were looking primarily for convenience and reasonable cost in choosing this hotel. Our time was spent in DC so we didn't need five star lodgings.

Not clean

I stayed for one night. The hallways, and especially the stairs, were quite dirty. They looked like they had nit been vaccumed in at least a week. There were five large bags of garbage sitting in the hallway on the second floor the entire time I was there. My room had hair on the floor, and it smelled moldy. Half the plugs did not work.
