Importante to note that if you want your room cleaned and trash taken out etc. You have to pay extra.

Perfect Place

Posted Aug 30, 2017
Pros: The concierge called a few weeks ahead of our stay, the day before our stay and the morning we arrived. This was a great service.
Cons: Better lighting in the bathroom or a lighted make up mirror.
Location: Hiking, mountain biking, golfing, skiiing
We stayed in Big Horn 208. It had a king bed in the master suite and 2 twins beds in the second room as promised. The furnishings were good quality with great style and looked like a cohesive design. The kitchen was fully stocked with all of the items you would need to cook any meal and had high end finishes including granite counter tops. The unit has a large stacked washer and dryer. Access was very easy from the secured underground garage via the elevator. The entrance to Big Horn is in the center of the village which is a big plus. We stayed in the summer but did note a really nice shared ski locker on the ground floor. The slider in the family room opens directly on to a patio with access to the hill behind it. Units on the upper floors have balconies. Each unit is separately owned and will have different sleeping options and decor. If you are looking for a large, high end furnished apartment for your stay, this is the place.

Great hotel, amenities, and access to everything

Posted Jul 28, 2017
The hotel is well situated and has a feel of luxury . There are options for eating and direct access to hiking and it's a major hub for mountain biking . The easy free parking was a must have . The other parts of Tahoe were a short drive .

I have a young child, so being near the Village and having a kitchen in our unit was extremely helpful. The staff were very knowledgeable and provided us information about the surrounding area and activities appropriate for my child's age. The facilities were very nice and we'll maintained. Only downside is we went in the Summer and the Village is pretty dead during this time of the year with weird store hours.

Hi Ashley- thank you for staying with us & we're so glad you found the residence ideal for your family. The Village has been quieter in early summer due to the lingering snow that prohibited the mountain bike park, hiking, etc. from opening but all should be in full swing now. We hope you'll come & visit us again soon.

Awesome Northstar Hotel, minor quibbles.

Posted May 30, 2017 on Hotels
Great location. 10 miles from downtown historic Truckee. The room was beautiful. Large kitchen, bathroom even the furniture was nice. One of the nicest hotels in the area, Northstar. Pool, restaurants, shopping, skating all within walking distance. DVD players in both rooms. Live music played outside but with the windows shut I couldn't hear a thing. A few things I didn't like. They don't have a full time front front desk, no daily housekeeping, both phones were off the hook and dead (just needed to be charged) and the TV was a little bit wonky since they have an amp, sub, and separate cable box. Why not just have a speaker bar and everything working together without all the hassle? I personally enjoyed the sound system but my fiance didn't know how to turn everything on and off. Last thing was the bed. Way too firm for me, but that is just my personal preference.

Hi Aaron-Thank you for your review & for staying with us; we greatly appreciate your feedback. Each residence is privately owned so there are going to be variations in the bed firmness & A/V equipment, but we can be more thorough with explaining how the different systems work. We do offer daily housekeeping in the winter should you wish to visit during ski season. We hope to welcome you again soon & do let us know about individual preferences you have as we will make every effort to fulfill those.

Close to the ski slopes

Posted May 29, 2017
Great hotel! We visited over Memorial Day weekend for a wedding, so spent very little time at the hotel. Several small restaurants, cafes and stores are nearby in the saw hotel complex. Not close to the actual lake, better location for winter trips when you want to stay near the slopes. Not too far to the nearest grocery store in Truckee (about 15 minutes). We bought groceries and were able to cook easy meals in the room where you have a toaster oven, microwave, fridge and other kitchen amenities. Super friendly staff. Great stay!

Thanks for your review, Meena, we're so pleased you had a nice stay & enjoyed all that The Village at Northstar has to offer. There is a Safeway in Kings Beach which is a bit closer (10 minutes) & the shores of Lake Tahoe are also 10 minutes away. We hope to host you again sometime.

The place was great. Pros: Spacious comfy clean and quiet. Cons: not enough light. Under cabinet light in the kitchen area was out and no light by one bedside.
