Horrible experience -Expedia's faul

paid reservation with expedia, upon arrival at 2 am on our way to Cincinnati [wanted to sleep for 4 hours] were told that the hotel did not received the reservation and could not honnor it. they do not receive reservations from internet, question? why are they listed in Expedia?
appears Expedia will sign up any hotel, no matter how bad it is. i have stayed at Rodeway Inn before and never had a complain.
Expedia should have never listed this particular hotel, it was awfull. the man at the front desk said that they only took cash for payment, no internet reservations or CC payment.
Expedia were not able to call into the hotel because they do not have a phone.
