Very nice hotel.

Overall I have a nice stay. Although upon checkout I wasn't asked if I had enjoyed my stay or if there were any problems.

Mis-Sold. 1 Star pretending to be 4 star.

Posted Mar 25, 2017
Pros: Nothing. The television didn't even have all the channels, it is really a 1 star hotel charging 4 star prices.
Cons: I would like my complaint to be treated fairly and properly, so far nothing.
Location: Nothing at all. Its remote.
The hotel has a nice lobby and entrance, the staff in the day time were polite and helpful. The rooms however are awful, they are dark and very dingy, there is no natural light in them at all and are very depressing. Carpets threadbare, and the bathrooms are more than basic, only a soap dispenser of very cheap soap. The Hotel advertises itself as perfect for business, far from the truth, I had an article I needed to write over the weekend I was there, the poor light made it impossible to write, and the halogen lights in the room were inadequate. I tried to cancel my second night at the hotel but was unable to because of the hotels policy, I would have lost most of my fee. In the end I had to to go out of the hotel for the day to work elsewhere. I used a local taxi, the hotel is very remote from any shops, banks ect and much further than I thought hence I was £5 short. The taxi company didn't have a card machine, and the hotel had no facilities to get cash out. The person on reception looked blankly and told me there was nothing they could do. He suggested I get back in the taxi and go to the nearest bank that would cost me another £20 in order to get £5 out. It was a farce, a very kind couple that were checking in gave me the £5. I ordered a very basic ham sandwich from the bar, VERY BASIC, it was £8. I have made a complaint to the management and their response has been very poor. The next step is a formal complaint to the company. Very very poor.

A stay close yo home

Posted Feb 27, 2017
Only live a mile away but could've been anywhere in the world. Love Dakota, great place, great food although the bed was a little too firm for me and no biscuits on the coffee tray which I was going to eat after my meal instead of dessert.

One night stay

I thought the hotel was okay, however I was disappointed with the location, 'free' WIFI service, very slow lift, tiny gym and disproportionate meal sizes to costs within the restaurant.

Improved since my last visit

Posted Jan 14, 2017 on Hotels
As a regular visitor to this hotel for business it is very easy to see their efforts to improve. I have criticised the hotel in the past for the quality of WiFi, all rooms now have high speed internet. Room service is now available and the food offering whilst still the same menu is better prepared and service has stepped up. Well done Dakota, but I am still watching.

Tired

Posted Dec 25, 2016
We've been staying at the Dakota several times a year for the past 3 or 4 years. We never get acknowledged as regulars. This time we noted the fabric is really getting old and worn. Most of the staff can't be bothered. When we went into the bar after a night out all the tables were covered in used glasses, food etc., and no attempt was made to clean up by the 2 barmen who just stood there and chatted. We need to find somewhere more looked after.
