Grand Velas is luxury hotel where service its their must important comodity. I had the best dinner experience at the french restaurant. The chef made us a seven course dinner specially for my family. At the beach I never had to order a drink, every time there was someone offering my something, always premium. The buffet its ok, not luxurious. Installation are beautiful, koi pond espectacular. Every area always clean and well maintained.

This is an amazing place to stay. It was my husband and I with our 18 year old daughter. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The place is very clean and kept up. Our room was the 2 double beds, the beds were small full sized pushed together. So it was OK for us being with our daughter, but if you have friends with you it might be awkward sleeping in one huge bed with a crack down the middle! The mattresses are very firm and the pillows were flat! This really is the only uncomfortable part of our stay. Otherwise the room is very clean with a stocked wet bar and fridge that is included in the all-inclusive price!
FOOD! Oh my, there is always amazing food around! The breakfast buffet is huge.. Lunch gives you two options, The Peninsula has amazing choices and great food...the other choice (the steakhouse) is not so good. Dinner is when you have the most choices, both buffets are open for a great casual dinner. We went in July so we could go to the other restaurants without making reservations. The Mexican food restaurant is great! The Japanese place was alright, out of the three dishes ordered between us we only liked the beef tenderloin. The sushi was great and worth going for! The Krystal restaurant was amazing!!! Everything we ordered was wonderful. Bring pants for the guys if you want to eat at restaurants, no shorts allowed for men.
We might like an adult only place next time! Good for families. The halls are all tile so sounds travel... loud nights.

Hotel was great and free in room wifi would've made it a 10! The staff was great, especially our waiter at the beach and the pool, Oscar. Only draw back is that you need a car or a taxi every day just to get out and about.

I had my doubts initially since I'm not an all inclusive hotel fan, however to my surprise the food and hotel services are great. Me and my family had a relaxing stay. It is good that the majority of guests are families with small kids. My only complaint was that maid service was really slow probably because they need more personnel.

I read one review that said everything that was the opposite of our experience. This resort exceeded our expectations! Staff could not have been nice or friendlier. Everyone, bellmen, concierge, waiters, hotel staff, treated us with high service in mind. We spent nine relaxing days on the beach and enjoyed the weather, bathtub warm water, boogie boarding, surfing, amazing fish tacos, drinks, etc. It was everything we had hoped for. Staff were constantly cleaning inside and out. The grounds are so lush and beautiful. Activities are easily accessible (we were thrilled to swim with the dolphins), and please don't bother with Hawaii. This was even better for 1/4th the cost!!! We hope to return every year!

Right on the beach, nice pool, lovely breakfast room and buffet. Not ideal for families as there are few activities for children. The hotel has fairly basic facilities so it isn't for party animals but very nice if you want quiet.

First of all, when you arrive at the airport DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT talk to anyone until you get outside. We wasted almost an hour talking to someone who we thought was going to help us get onto the shuttle that we paid for with this deal but all they do is try to sell you timeshares and they won't stop talking to you until you get something from them -_-
The resort greeted us with drinks and got us checked into our room right away! We asked to upgrade to an ocean view room but unfortunately there were none available so instead Mario offered us a timeshare room for the same price which was even better!!! I'm a little sad that the water activities were only during certain times so we weren't able to do them when we wanted to. Eduardo was a great bartender, he served us drinks everyday and knew what we wanted! We thought the beach would've been better, it seemed a little dirty.. The mall across the street was a very short walk but almost all the stores on the top floor were empty so you're better off bargaining in downtown. Their check out time is at noon and our flight wasn't until 4PM but they offered to keep our luggages and then gave us a hospitality room to change in so that we can still swim, eat, and just hang out at the resort until our shuttle came! And on top of that, they give you snacks for the ride! It was the best little getaway for our 10 year anniversary!
