Lovely base to explore Nuwara Eliya

We had a problem at check in as they didn't have a record of the booking OR confirmation that we had paid in advance, the reception staff were not very helpful in contacting E bookers for confirmation I had to insist! They put us up in a ground floor room that was damp and some movement on the floor (not sure if it was a mouse or cockroach) and no view of anything but a brick wall, for our second night they moved us up stairs with a reasonable view, it was a cold room but didn't smell. The sickner for us was at checkout we paid our bill it seemed about right so I didn't check, however an hour later we received a phone call to say the second nights dinner hadn't been paid and they were deducting the waiters salary and we needed to refund him! needless to say we didn't want him to lose out so we had to make a detour in columbo to a bank and I was quite disgusted that they would do that to the staff who I have to say were all lovely, as most Sri Lankans are really lovely people!
