Warm cosy hotel

Posted Dec 2, 2017
A warm cosy oasis in a very cold wet town. Hot water , which believe it or not is hard to find in this town. Super comfy beds, and heaters for the cold nights. Beautiful decor and in keeping with its heritage.

English Style Hotel Up In the Hills

Posted Dec 1, 2017
Pros: We love the ambience and the very English Style concept of the hotel. We also love the staffs!
Cons: Maybe they could provide additional toiletries of toothbrush/toothpaste. More space to put our luggages.
Location: The trail hike Horton Plains is a must.
We love everything about the hotel from the ambience to its staffs. The weather was cooling except its raining and we enjoyed staying in the hotel itself. The staffs are very helpful, courteous and friendly. Unlike the other parts of Sri Lanka which we experience with the staff, though service was not up to our expectation they always expect tips. To us if service is not up to par, I would not tip. But Grand Hotel staff are above our expectation, do not even expect tips from us, forever helpful and we can see they love what they are doing (their job). We love leaving tips for them cause they are sincere and we are of the opinion they really deserve the tips!!! Bravo!!! Keep it up!!!

Hotel with superb breakfast

Posted Mar 25, 2017 on Hotels
We were traveling around Sri Lanka. The Grand hotel is very old traditional english hotel in the centre of Nuwara Ellia - great location, with excellent breakfast. Rooms are clean and pretty comfortable, which is of great value. Bathroom is clean, but nothing special. We enjoyed the 5 o clock tea in the garden. The staff is very nice and helpfull. The food is excellent: you can eat at four different restaurants; Superb Indian food in Grand India - prices are reasonable. The price for the room per night is too high for Sri Lanka. No internet in rooms.

Nice heritage hotel

Posted Dec 17, 2016
Very good rooms and well maintained hotel. Very attentive service, buffet and restaurants served fantastic food. Rooms were fresh, linens were clean and everything was great. If at all something can be improved, the Travel desk needs a major overhaul.

Nice hotel close to the scenic Nuwara Eliya

Posted Aug 13, 2016
Pros: It is an old European style hotel located in the middle of Nuwara Eliya town.
Cons: It would be great if the hotel could expand the Indian restaurant. You feel odd when you see many people are waiting outside while you dine inside.
Location: Enjoy the scenery, and also the opportunities to horseback riding and boat riding are avaiable
The staff was incredibly friendly and we were welcome to the hotel grandly. With thanks to the Travel Manager, Luckshan at Tangerine/ Royal Palm Beach hotel, the room reserved in the Grand Hotel got upgraded to a nice comfortable suite as it was a booking within the same company. We had dinner at an Indian restaurant affiliated with Grand Hotel. The food was quite delicious; however, we had to wait in a line way in advance to get in on time.
