Tired Hotel, close enough to everything
Posted Feb 28, 2017
Upon arrival, the king room with kitchenette we booked was not available. We were given a room with single beds for the first night, and queen room with kitchenette the remaining nights. The hotel fee was waived, which was appreciated, however we still did not get the room we expected. The first room - the water did not drain in the shower very quickly, so you stand in a deep puddle, which is kind of disgusting. The second room did not have a problem with the shower at all. When we requested a coffee maker, it was provided right away. Some of the stove elements were not working. And it would be a nice addition if the hotel provided salt and pepper in the kitchenette, just for some simple seasoning. The front staff was pleasant to deal with, as were the cleaning ladies, but we found they showed up at the room very early for housekeeping. We considered this hotel "tired" but clean.
Across the street, the Holiday Inn was amidst renovations, so the sound of jackhammering was constant.
We were disappointed with the balcony - it is a solid wall structure, so when you sit outside, you can't actually see anything.
It was an easy walk to beach and restaurants, so location was fine. Just expect a lot of noise as you are in the midst of city. The sliding doors did little to dampen the sounds of traffic / yelling / garbage collection early every morning
