Location, Location, Location

Posted Sep 26, 2016
Pros: location
Cons: Size of rooms should be standard American size accommodations
Location: Awesome beach activities, shopping, eateries etc.
ALTHOUGH THE ROOMS ARE VERY SMALL they were comfortable, as long as you had no intentions on staying in. Which is very hard to do being in a central Waikiki location. This is walking distance to all the major activities in Waikiki and what I would consider a very convenient location for the cost. There is an awesome restaurant just downstairs where the steaks and prime rib were awesome. I never did get a chance to try the Japanese restaurant but will do so next time. All in all a fairly nice stay.

Posted Sep 26, 2016

Great location, nothing too flash but good value

Posted Sep 26, 2016
Pros: Good value for money compared to the rest of the competition. Good location
Cons: Soundproof the walls
Location: Very close to the beach, plenty of shops and places to eat!
Location is perfect, it reminds me of a little Japanese room but slightly bigger, it even has a little balcony. The walls are not really sound proof though, you can hear your neighbors TV. However its good value for money compared to the rest. We were here for a two nights to do shopping and see the city after doing Island hopping prior. Perfect to finish off the holidays

Posted Sep 24, 2016

Good Hotel

Posted Sep 23, 2016
Pros: Location.
Cons: Elevators
Location: Centrally located and close to beach and shopping.
The hotel is centrally located and close to the beach and shopping. Rooms were clean, staff helpful and friendly. It's a little dated and the elevators definitely need some work, but overall, satisfied.

Posted Sep 23, 2016
Pros:

This week we celebrate Founders Day... The Kelleys began building and acquiring apartments in the 1930s. Their first hotel was The Islander on Seaside Avenue in Waikiki. Opened in 1947, it was Hawaii's first new hotel in 20 years. It had 33 rooms on four stories; a penthouse was added later. Although there were already a few hotels in Hawaii--the Royal Hawaiian, the Moana, and the Halekulani--The Islander catered to a more budget-conscious crowd. Rooms started at $7.50 a night. Key Dates: 1947: The Kelley family opens The Islander hotel in Waikiki. 1951: The six-story Edgewater Hotel opens. 1955: The Reef Hotel opens. 1967: The Outrigger Waikiki opens. 1984: The properties are consolidated into Outrigger Hotels Hawaii. 1989: The first hotels on a neighbor island and on the mainland are opened. 1995: A holding company structure is adopted. 1999: The OHANA Hotels & Resorts economy brand is launched. 2005: Construction slated to begin on $460 million Waikiki Beach Walk.

Posted Sep 21, 2016

Mahalo I appreciate your comments on this forum. Thank you. I like your comments on the pool; I have just had a conversation with an 8 year old who loves the pool because no sand in swimwear and her parents stay out of the sun in the lounge. I hope you enjoyed both the sun at the beach and the time in our pool.
