Hounds Tooth is an adorable bed and breakfast. Breakfast is great and the food is out around the clock. Each room is beautifully appointed. It is under new management and they are scrambling to fix things, for example, in our cottage the electrical outlets did not work in the kitchen.

Great room for a family of 4!

Posted Jul 27, 2017
A very large room with a small kitchen which was just perfect for a family of 4 including 2 teens. The check in was very efficient with a ton of very helpful information about visiting Yosemite.

In the Middle

Everything needs an update! It's all just "ok". Not horrible. But not great either. Beds/linens need an update. Towels are very thin. Room size is good. Location to Yosemite is great but still quite a drive in to the park. There was a health warning about the drinking water posted behind the check-in desk downstairs but nothing posted in our room. That was a bit concerning. If you just need plain and simple with no frills then this would be ok for you.

Thank you for your comments. Health warning on water notice was not taken out behind the desk last May. You should have checked the date first.

Outdated rooms, bedding didn't look fresh at all, staff was friendly and helpful with direction, bath tab looks old and needs cleaning, didn't look appealing enough for us to use it. Location is not bad, lots of places to eat around, but room seemed a bit overpriced.

Cons: Breakfast is served too late in order to get into the park and be able to park. Turn off the light outside at night.
Location: Close to town of Oakhurst with a great brewery that serves good food. Long drive back into the park 1.5 hours each way over a very windy road.
The Inn is okay. It is not owned by the people that manage the facility thus not a true Bed and Breakfast. Breakfast is served late if you want to get an early start in the park. The cold food and coffee is available at 7am and hot not until 8am. The room is rather bright at night which was unexpected for the area .. many lights are on outside. It is a full 1.5 hours to get to Yosemite Valley.

Guest response to managers response

Posted Jun 15, 2017 on Hotels
During my recent stay, I was told I owed $80 more than the Hotels.com quote when I had entered 2 children--16&17--as prompted by the site. Maria told me she she would call Hotels, and I did too. After 45 minutes on the phone, it disconnected but I later got a cryptic message that they had taken care of it. Maria told me the next morning the problem was Hotels use of a 20-yr old rate sheet. However a recent guest left a note in the sign in book hat they had to pay $80 more, so she had not corrected a known problem until I pressed it. Maria, I'm insulted that you called me a "bad apple" when I got your problem resolved using my time. I stick by my opinion that the condition of the Summer House was not up to 3 star---check it out--tomato sauce splatter in microwave, dusty floor, several burnt out light bulbs and only 2 glasses- I looked for more in the dishwasher but it was unable to be opened as it wasn't attached to the cabinetry. I did like your breakfast and told you it was very good. Please retract your insult!

Just say the TRUTH...won't hurt!!!! It will not make you a better person by lying. We do not accept a free loader, for this is not a road side motel. You wanted your 16 & 17 yr old kids FREE of breakfast? Sorry, that will be the first & last that I will give free breakfast & stay for extra person.

Great place, rude check-in person

Posted Jun 5, 2017 on Hotels
The hotel room was great. The woman who checked us in was rude and insulting. We spent our first night in town at the Leaping Lizard Creekhouse bed and breakfast and that was a much friendlier, more charming place and infinitely less expensive. This was a nice hotel but the woman who checked us in, Maria, was not pleasant at all.
