An Oldie But A GoodiePosted Aug 17, 2015
Pros: Motor court...easy parking, nice room, great staff, quiet & safe with a great location for our needs
Cons: don't know, don't care
Location: Conveniently located for music, food and shopping...easy walking to all
Nice and easy place to pop into town and have a restful stay...quiet, safe, clean and nicely located if you're doing things in West Berkeley

Be sure to be completely tired or wastedPosted Aug 11, 2015
Pros: Staff, close to the Bay Bridge, you don't pay San Francisco prices for accommodation.
Cons: Fans, use WD40 or change the positioning. They are too too too, extremely loud.
The hotel is not bad although you can find something better at a relative same price. Good thing is that the staff is extremely good, always smiling and providing great advice for tourists. The bad thing is that the room has no sound proof walls, you can literally hear people next door doing... what people do. And for rooms with no air conditioning they have a fan, if you turn it on all wild animals nearby will be scared and run to safety. It is very loud if you didn't get the point.

Cheap and CleanPosted Jul 30, 2015
If you just want a cheap clean place to sleep, look no further. However, this place has no A/C - only a desktop fan mounted on the ceiling so it's extremely stuffy. Mini frig didn't work so bring a cooler. And maybe some Febreeze.

Enjoyed a short stayPosted Jul 9, 2015
We appreciated the retro decor-reminiscent of the California of 60 years ago. Would stay there again if in the area.

stay in BerkeleyPosted May 30, 2015
Pros: location and helpfulness of staff
Cons: better mattress
Location: across the street from Acme Bakery and Kermit Lynch wine seller; 3/4 mile from North Berkeley BART station
motel is old-style, which I like and is within walking distance of Fourth Street shops

Terrible roomsPosted May 25, 2015
Pros: Location. Staff was pleasant.
Cons: Need to renovate the rooms with new HVAC, larger TVs and sound insulation.
Location: Local bread maker, wine store and coffee shop across street. Near downtown Berkeley.
Room was next to street. Walls were paper thin. Heater required messing with the thermostat controls since it would quit working. Asked to be moved because of noise but there were no other rooms. Office was only open during the day.

First San Francisco tripPosted May 20, 2015 on Hotels
Solid place for the price, only needed a place to sleep and shower. Location is fine if you're planning on visiting SF, Cal, or Oakland

part of visiting the bay area without going brokePosted May 15, 2015 on Hotels
Encountered the same fickle key issue many others were mentioning, and yeah the room cooling methods are old school (fan + open a window). Room smelled a little musty. But it was a safe place to park the car during a long stay, and it's going to be hard to find a better value for the price in the massively inflated bay area.
