H+ Hotel & Spa Engelberg (NOT Hotel Sonnwendhof)
I can't review this hotel because they ended up moving us to the H+ Hotel and Spa due to this one being under renovation. Initially I was disappointed because of the last minute change (I got the notice while we were traveling) and because I wanted the look and feel of this hotel. BUT it all worked out. We were more centrally located, the hotel was nice, they provided parking, the complimentary breakfasts were delicious, and the staff was amazingly courteous and helpful.

The breakfast here was the best we had iur entire trip! The yogurt is unbelievably tasty and the cheese and croissants were to die for. The Hotel was small and quaint. Rooms view was awesome but beds are extremely hard. Had to use key to lock the door which got annoying at times and the bathrooms aren’t the best. The location is great! Right next to the train station! Engelberg is beautiful!

Sonnwendhof Engelberg
Arrived after 11pm so our key was at their sister hotel in town as this one doesn't have a 24hr reception. Once we got our key getting into the hotel and our room was very straight forward. Comfortable room and quite spacious. We got a bath which was a bonus after a hard day's skiing. It's just a 5 min walk from the Titlis lift and 5 mins into town so great location. Free car parking. We needed an early breakfast one day as we were going ski touring so the breakfast guy came in early at 6:30 to ensure we got a coffee and he'd prepared a packed breakfast for us to take. Most appreciated. On our last day they let us keep our room until 5pm as it was available and at no extra cost. There's a sauna at this hotel but you can use the wellness area at the bigger hotel free of charge - pool, sauna, steam.Would definitely recommend.

Highly recommend.
Very friendly service at the front desk and breakfast. Breakfast was very good. Great location, next to train station and the ski hill base. Great value overall.

Friendly Staff and Perfect Location for Skiing
The hotel staff were extremely warm and welcoming, and were more than happy to offer advise or go beyond to help as required. The hotel itself is well located for the Titlis ski area (a very easy walk, 5 min max, to the lift) and has ski storage. One thing that wasn't mentioned in the hotel description (that I wish I'd have known in advance to come prepared for!) was that the hotel has a sauna and you can also make full use of the sister hotel's more extensive spa facilities, doesn't look like this is mentioned in the hotel description. The room was basic for the money (probably a general trait in Switzerland than anything unique to this hotel) and could probably do with renovation. Although basic, the room was very clean, warm and met my requirements. Overall, had a good weekend stay, thanks!

Such a great hotel
It's a romantic and super quaint inn type. Breakfast was absolutely amazing with amazing coffee. Great location and fire of the snow capped mountains. The only one downfall is that the bed is really hard and made us super sore when we woke up! But well worth it and would stay here again. If you want quiet and peaceful this is it! Close to titles lifts and literally next door to train stop.

Great place, great views!
We have stayed at this hotel 4 times now and we love it. The hotel is small, clean and the staff are always friendly and helpful. Engelberg is a beautiful village and caters for all. The backdrop of the mountains is spectacular and the views from the hotel balcony are amazing! If there’s only one gripe on this occasion, our room had no large mirror on the wall which my wife uses when I’m getting ready in the bathroom and also they use a different supplier for the croissants. They are smaller and less tasty than previously but this will not stop us coming back

Will stay here every time we go to Engelberg
I really recommend this hotel to anyone. Excellent service, especially Nora at reception. We needed a kettle in our room and she brought us one within 5 min. Excellent breakfast!! Nice big room, nice bed, and beautiful view from our balcony. Lovely bath and shower with more than enough hot water. Less than 5 min walk from the station. Only negative, no refrigerator in room. Thanks again to Nora and the rest of the staff, we had a wonderful time.

Great place to stay!
We stayed here for the fourth time now and is always a pleasure to stay! the hotel is just over the road from the railway station and near to the town centre The staff are very friendly and informative. The rooms are comfortable and clean. There is a good sized breakfast room with a good selection of continental cheeses, meats and breads. The whole area is great for any outdoor activities so if you want a true Swiss mountain holiday, this is the place to be!

Quaint comfortable hotel in the heart of Engelberg
What a wonderful place to stay. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful to an American traveler completely ignorant of her setting! They made me feel very welcome. The hotel itself is very clean, and right next to the train station so incredibly convenient.

Great location
Excellent, peaceful location, within walking distance to the main train station and Titlis cable car. The room was of good size for two people and the breakfast was nice (great croissants!). Engelberg was beyond beautiful, highly recommended.

Nice hotel, great location
We stayed as a couple for the weekend. After an initial meeting with a slightly surly receptionist (we didn't see her again) the others were lovely! Very nice room, clean and spacious, fabulous views! Very close (2 minute walk) to the station and 5 mins to the main shopping area. Breakfast was continental, lots to choose from ie bread, meats, cheeses, cereal etc. All the staff apart from the initial receptionist were very helpful and pleasant.

Friendly hotel well located
This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel and would recommend it for any traveller.. It's no more than 5 minutes walk to the train station and the centre of Engelberg - so is very convenient, There is a good choice of food for breakfast - all fresh and very tasty - which will set you up for your day's hiking or sightseeing. For those of you who like sightseeing the easy way there is the cable car to the top of Mount Titlis about 10 minutes walk away - or if you're feeling more energetic there is a path to the top about 15 minutes away. Apart from Mount Titlis there are plenty of other walks and cable cars around. You can also get a train to Luzern which is a beautiful town with plenty of things to do and see.

Lovely hotel, in an amazing area of Switzerland!
Was so impressed first time around (September 2015). We decided to stay again in March 2016. This time the whole area was covered in snow which made it even more special! but this didn't stop or change anything and considering the amount of snow they'd had, the trains still ran like clockwork (as you would expect from Switzerland). That staff were as friendly and helpful as before and the staff at the local railway station gave us advice on where to visit (as we were not there for skiing). We had some amazing trips and the scenery was breathtaking! I would recommend this area to anyone whether you're skiing or hiking. There is so much to see. Will definitely stay again!

Wonderful hotel in perfect surroundings
This hotel was perfectly situated in a beautiful area with easy access a few metres from the railway station and close to town. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel was of a very high standard for a 3 star! The only drawback was no tea/coffee making facilities in the room but this is only a minor issue. Breakfast buffet was the usual continental style with a good selection of bread rolls, croissants, yoghurt etc and was of high quality. Engleberg is a beautiful area in central Switzerland about 50mins train ride from Luzern. If you want to be surrounded by snow capped peaks then this is the place to be!

Convenient
Conveniently located to Mt. Titlis and rail stations. Breakfast was plentiful, but when large groups were present, there was nothing hot for us as we ate in another room. We did enjoy the extra touches for their celebration of Swiss Day.

Nice room with outside patio and view of surrounding mountains. Only drawback is the minifridge did not work.
