Old Hotel. Needs some renovation. Poor beds.

Pros: The rate. Two pools, one indoor. The 32 inch flat screen TV. Ocean view rooms.
Cons: Hallways. Beds. Room condition. AC. Staff attitude.
Location: Decent location. All rooms are ocean view. The hotel is at the very end of the Boardwalk.
The first thing I should say is that the price was lower than other hotels in the area. Considering that, perhaps I should not have expected the place to be in great condition. It wasn't falling down or anything, and it wasn't dirty... There were just a number of things that could use to be updated and improved. The hallways are very narrow. When attempting to bring our luggage to AND FROM our room, we couldn't get past the hotel services staff and their cart. It was a big fiasco where the staff had to move their cart all the way down the other end of the hallway to let us by. Our room was OLD. Wallpaper was peeling slightly all over the place. The table and chairs that were in the room were wore heavily. The bathroom door had recently been replaced with a wood door from Home Depot or somewhere, which was unfinished, raw wood, which had become dirty from use. The AC couldn't seem to make the room cooler than 75 degrees. Probably the most unacceptable thing about the room was the condition of the bed. We had a room with two double beds. One of the beds was fine, but the spring on the other were shot. It sagged terribly. Very uncomfortable to sleep in. In the middle of the night, the guests in the room next to us had a vacuum cleaner running and a dog barking loudly. We called down to the front office to have it addressed, and the noise stopped. When I spoke to the front desk about it the following day, the attendant at the desk was rude rather than apologetic.

It was in the perfect location for my business in Maryland. Restaurant below the hotel was fabulous. Good experience overall.

WHEN WE HAD TO LEAVE BEFORE THE END OF OUR BOOKED STAY BECAUSE OF AN EMERGENCY, THE HOTEL REFUNDED THE ENTIRE AMOUNT OF OUR BILL EVEN THOUGH WE HAD STAYED TWO NIGHTS. WE OFFERED TO PAY FOR THE TWO NIGHTS THINKING THEY WER BEING MORE THAN FAIR BY NOT CHANGING US FOR THE NEXT FOUR NIGHTS, THEY INSISTED ON A 100% REFUND. THIS IS ABOVE AND BEYOND.

Disgust!

Bed bugs. Got there friday. By sunday my son amd i were all bit up....looked around found bed bugs (5) told office...showed them our bites and the bugs.they refunded one nights stay and tried to say we brought them. Inconsideratem wouldnt even gibe us another room to sleep in as we were tired from cheer competition all day. And i had to dribe back to pa in the morning. Never will i return there

Okay but

This was the last week the hotel was open so there were only a handful of travelers. Our whole floor was empty, but we were put in an end room close to the street even though we paid for ocean view. Would have preferred to be in the end room closer to the boardwalk. The first night was quiet, the 2nd night they put a noisy family in the room next to us and someone kept trying to open the door between our rooms. There were many other rooms they could have used.

I book a ocean view but I got a side ocean view instead. Not very happy about that. How can this be avoided?
