Fun for families with children, but

Posted Nov 27, 2016
Pros: Indoor pool. Hotel is ocean front. There is a liquor store across the street.
Cons: Hotel needs to be modernized.
We traveled to Ocean City for Thanksgiving weekend. We stayed at another hotel Wednesday night and Thursday night. I had some points on Expedia and decided to stay for Friday night. We found the Princess Royale online for a low rate plus points brought down the rate under $100. The room was a suite next to the indoor pool. We have two young boys that love to swim so we booked the room. I learned that the hotel had a spa on site so I booked an appointment for a facial shortly after we checked in. The layout of this hotel is strange. The spa/salon is located in the basement, but the actual treatment room is on the first floor. There is no steam machine and the whole set up seems low budget but they charge full price. The hotel room was clean but everything is dated...actually the entire hotel is frozen in time from the late 70s/early 80s. The elevators are slow. The decor is gaudy at best. There are no ice machines but they will gladly sell you a bag of ice at the gift shop. The big attraction is the indoor pool/game room in the Atrium. The kids loved it. There is no lifeguard on duty but they have staff (that do no speak English) on hand to keep a close eye on the towels and wrist bands for kids that want to swim in the pool. They simply hold the gate shut and point to the sign stating that kids need wristbands. First class....

Not A Winter Getaway Choice

Posted Nov 24, 2016 on Hotels
Went during the off season. Ocean City is a dud in the winter season. The hotel staff was pleasant and helpful. The room was a very good size for the price. A family of 6 could have enjoyed that space. We stayed in a side ocean view and the room had a very small but useless balcony so the view wasn't very appealing. The convenience of the hotel restaurant was nice but the menu was over priced. We saved money by visiting during the off season but there was also nothing to do because so many shops were closed. The board walk and beaches were pretty much shut down.

It's always great to stay there during the off season. So quiet and laid back, I love it! Only thing though is the soaps and lotions, they are horrible. I mistakenly forgot mine at home, so until I was able to run to a Rite Aid I used what was in the room. The soap was so hard and stale scented that it wouldn't lather properly, so I used the shampoo as a body wash, which better than the soaps but not good.

Excellent location and Well Maintained

Posted Nov 18, 2016 on Hotels
The hotel room/suite was spacious, well-maintained, and in an excellent location. The room smelled good. There was a kitchenette with dishes and utensils. The staff was friendly.
