When we turned up at Sand and Tan we was very confused because no one seemed to know where it was, reason being this Hotel until recent was called Kaz Kreol (see previous reviews which are terrible.
The pictures (of the rooms) on line was nothing like the real thing, absolute CATFISH. When you enter the “road” there is pure carnage there is loads of activity for the short rafting trips on part of the white river, it is overcrowded with men trying to sell the trips and other things, it’s dirty and noisy, the little stretch of river has more rafts than river.
Back to hotel once found at the end of this “road” the building looks like a prison, very dated, the reception is so old fashioned its unbelievable, the reception guy though was very nice and welcoming, did the paperwork and gave us the key explained where are room was (3rd floor) no lift (we are ladies of a mature age) luckily our driver helped up it was a long walk down the darkest and dismal looking corridor (I had visions of Bates Hotel the Netflix series) the smell of damp, paint was all mixed together.
THE ROOM omg (301) on entering we felt this room was not fit for humans. Everything was outdated especially the bathroom, UNTIL we opened the curtains to the most outstanding view you could imagine from the balcony it took our breath away.
Plus side the food, staff are lovely, loved the little bar, loved seeing local family’s welcomed to use facilities on a day pass, total refurbishment ongoing the place is a GEM.
