One step up from a cabin

There are two sections to this motel-the original and older building and two newer buildings. We stayed in the older building. It has charm and the location is good. The man who checked us in the night we arrived was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The older building is built around a private garden area that leads to the pool. Each room has patio doors that lead from your room to the garden and you have your own bistro table and two chairs. And that's where the charm ended because the room itself was a big letdown. We had to keep the patio doors open because it was very musty smelling. The beds were very uncomfortable. The room was adequate otherwise. It was what you expected and needed in a motel. And the cleaning staff COMPLETELY FAILED!!! We travel ALOT and I always have disinfecting wipes on hand and I definitely needed them this time. We allowed the cleaner in one day only. She emptied our garbage can, changed the toilet roll, and straightened the covers on beds we only slept on top of. She did not clean ANYTHING!!! She did not vacuum, dust or wipe any surface or clean the sink, toilet or tub. She did not replace soaps or shampoos or coffee. I did that myself and borrowed the vacuum the next day. This is not what I expect for $169.99 a night especially when we stay for four nights. This motel could be more than it is right now. It misses the mark and what a shame because these are simple things to fix/change. I'm sorry that I can't recommend it.
