Hotel room furnishings are a bit dated, but well kept-up and comfortable. Hotel was super conveniently located. The breakfast was very good, with more vegetarian options than usual for buffet breakfasts in Japan.

A decent basic hotel which is within walking distance to the train station and major malls like Takashimaya and Aeon Mall. As it is located along the food streets, it can get noisy at night.

Avoid "park view" for noise purposes
Nice enough hotel, staff were excellent throughout, clean and comfortable. The only issue was the sound of the crossing beeping constantly. Very irritating.

Well, Everything in this hotel is perfect. The hotel seem to come with concept of earthenware museum since there’s display shown in every floor and lobby which is very unique. Also nearby the canal but I forgot the name of canal which is also beautiful and nice to walk in evening and night. Only one thing I feel don’t like is the facility in each floor are not equal, for example, if you need to warm up your food you need to go to the floor that has microwave. But it’s not that much trouble since the hotel also have to make some space for staff as well. And for breakfast, I can’t review this one since I didn’t have it extra during my stay. Overall, it’s a good hotel. Totally recommend

The Koraku hotel has a good location in walking distance from the station. The rooms and service are ok. Breakfast does not meet the needs of western guests. A room safe is really something you expect in this type of hotel, but it is not there.

Arrogance and negligence in customer service
Upon checked in on 20/03, we paid for the five nights room reservation in full as requested. The first impression of our 22 sq m room on 12th floor was good though it had no view facing a tall building across the road. Old furniture looked properly maintained but with a small bathroom. Soon we were shocked to find an inconspicuous notice in the hotel menu folder--there would be no A/C for the following days of our stay for scheduled maintenance. Our booking was made 4 months ago. Why no one informed us in advance, nor the receptionist Mr武內 who took our payment mentioned that on arrival! The front desk noted that the local weather forecast for our stay was cold (<10'C) and rainy, thus opening the window was not an option. besides, the city traffic would be too noisy for me to sleep. Who can accept a gloomy room with no ventilation while on holiday? After much negotiation, they offered another hotel nearby of same cost to move us there the next day. But why wasting another day on check-in & out to cut short our itinerary? Not to mention the inconvenient packing and unpacking in 2 hotels within 24 hours. The management agreed to our request for immediate transfer. A reservation clerk Miss (Harita?) accompanied us to check in at Daiwa Roynet Okayama Ekimae. She scurried along well ahead of us among traffic lights on the busy main road until I asked her to slow down as we were seniors hauling heavy luggage. Also she did not check if the new room was of equivalent quality.

We had a quiet deluxe room on upper floor. Room temperature was set to 22C and was impossible to change so opened a window. There was no street noise so no problems.

This is my second time and both times were very nice. Consistently friendly and courteous service together with well-designed rooms and a welcoming lobby area. A little bit of a walk but straightforward from the station. Have courtesy bikes which are new and have gears which we enjoyed. Would recommend this property without hesitation.

The hotel itself is fine, but be aware that the temperature of the rooms is centrally controlled and, depending on the time of year, you can only use either heating or air conditioning. I stayed on a hot day in April and the air conditioning was turned off for the entire building, meaning my room was 26 degrees all night (couldn't sleep at all). The staff was kind, but unable to help in any way. They brought a noisy, old fan up to my room at 1am, but it made no difference. They said, "Open the window", which is fine, but then you have all the street noise coming in, and that only brought the temperature down to 25 anyway. I've stayed in 100s of hotels and this is the first I've ever experienced where you literally cannot control the temperature of your room. I see this as false advertising really...why describe your rooms as having air conditioning if they actually don't? A very strange and annoying set up indeed. Otherwise, the room was fine, and breakfast was good. However, if they want to turn off the air conditioner for 6 months of the year just to save money, then 1) they should clearly state this at the outset, and 2) they should be charging a lot less for their rooms than they do. Cannot recommend.

Nice convenient hotel
Nice hotel, conveniently situated. I booked a superior room with a Park view. It was quite pleasant, with a comfortable bed, even if the decoration is average (like many hotels in Japan). The breakfast was very good, nice buffet (rare these days with the Covid situation), and very good croissants. Only one negative point, as a "Silver Member" I was supposed to receive a free drink but I didn't. Next time I will go to Okayama, I will definitively select this hotel again.

Due to our own carelessness when booking, we ended up booking our stay in the smokers floor. As we were not smokers, we asked reception if we could change. They gladly arranged the room and took our bags to the new room. Although we had to stay on the smoking floor on our first night, we were grateful that we did not have to pay for the room change, on our following nights.

My new favourite hotel
This is my new favourite hotel. Everything about it is great, from the huge range of amenities to be used or borrowed, to the amount of local information they have on hand, to the huge laundry room so I never had to waste time waiting for a machine. I stayed 4 nights in Okayama, the longest of any city on this trip, and I'm glad it was at this hotel. A short walk from Okayama station (Google says 15 minutes but it's more like 10) with a ton of restaurants and convenience stores nearby, including in-house restaurant and a convenience store attached to the lobby. They also have a business center where you can freely use the computers if you feel so inclined. Would happily stay here again.

This hotel was great. The location was central to the station and castle. The hotel amenities are great. We enjoyed coffee in our room served in locally made Bizen pottery. We also enjoyed the aromatherapy pod available by request from the front desk along with many other items. The size of the triple room was large for Asian standards.
