"Nice Older Motel"
I stayed for 3 nights while in town for a funeral. This is an obviously older hotel (1960's) and didn't have many of the amenities a newer place would have. But there is a huge price difference in the new chain hotels and the older motels in the area. It suited my needs just fine. The paint and linens were fresh, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable.

Pocket Guide: Heartland Okeechobee Independent Hotels

Highways 70 and 15 intersect in the middle of Okeechobee. South from the town is the lake which bears the same name. Anglers can test their skills with the lake's fish stock. Visit the town in March for the Speckled Perch Festival or during the 4th of July to experience the cattle drive as it goes through town. A portion of the Florida National Scenic Trail rings the lake.
