Pros: Very friendly staffs.
Location: Very convenient location. It is in walking distance toward the center of the city.
The view from the room at the top floor is great. Both windows are able to see Fairmont Le Château Frontenac.

Christmas in Quebec with Hotel 71

Posted Jan 7, 2018
Hotel 71 was our base for the ten days we spent over Christmas in Quebec. First: the staff - Everyone we came into contact with during our stay were professional, helpful and friendly. Everyone. Housekeeping to front desk, they could not have been more welcoming. A big shout out to the concierge Francine who assisted us in many ways over many days with things large and small. She even made restaurant reservations for me several months before our arrival as Christmas holidays are booked up early. Location was perfect. : Hotel 71 is a bank that has been converted into a modern hotel. There is a tastefully designed self-serve wine bar in the lobby, & a make-your-own espresso station in the adjacent seating area. Art abounds. Our room was comfortable, warm in -42 wind chill weather & impeccably maintained by the staff. The only very small thing I noticed is the hall carpets look a bit worn, but we added our own wear & tear clomping in & out w/ snowboots every day. Breakfast: We were there ten days, & found the breakfast restaurant bright, staff very friendly, the manager Melissa delightful. The food that was on offer - okay. It is basic continental with no hot options, & not enough variety to make it interesting; (especially if you are there for an extended stay like us.) The breakfast is optional though, & there are great pastry shops and local cafes. In short (after the long), we had a wonderful trip to Quebec; & that was in no small part due to Hotel 71.

Mediocre hotel in a beautiful city

Posted Jan 3, 2018
The staff is friendly and the location is good, but the hotel itself lacks character. The restaurant is loud and you feel rushed with your meal. The quality of the food is very sub-par and it is over-priced. The cold breakfast is really bare minimum and if there was an alternative close by the hotel, we would have used it every day. In summary, it is a mediocre hotel nestled in a very beautiful city and it is not worth the price per night.

Great Service, Great People

Posted Dec 9, 2017
Pros: The positive attitude of the staff of Hotel 71.
Cons: Nothing!
From the moment we pulled up in front of the Hotel 71 we were treated royally. Luke, valet on duty, was on top of getting us to registration where Alexandra checked us in and told us all we needed to make our stay comfortable. Luke settled us into our room (730) with the fantastic view. Francine was at the front desk when we were going to start exploring the beautiful Quebec City. She, patiently, gave us various directions on several occasions which proved more than adequate. Her suggestions made it possible for us to see a few places we otherwise would have missed. Rose was on front desk duty when our son emailed with questions concerning Hotel 71. She not only answered his questions but handled his request to pay for our stay as this was our 30th Wedding Anniversary. Not only did Rose not tell us about our sons' gift she also left a very nice note in our room congratulating us on the anniversary. Sadly, Mathew was the valet who helped get us safely packed up and on the road back to Boston. A truly great hotel with a very professional staff who have a very warm attitude.

Great location for a visit to Quebec City

Posted Nov 13, 2017
Pros: LOcation, staff, style
Check-in was an extremely smooth and pleasant experience. Both the front desk staff and the doormen we helpful and courteous. Hotel is definitely as advertised as a boutique hotel. Our room was clean, quiet and comfortable. The free breakfast each morning was very nice. Not at all "canned' as I have come to expect for free hotel breakfast. The hotel is right among the shops and restaurants in the lower city and a short walk(although quite uphill) to the old city. I would recommend staying here anytime.

Fancy Lower Town Hotel

Posted Nov 13, 2017
Pros: Location, staff, room, restaurant, access to the waterfront and the rest of Old Quebec.
Location: Walking the old cobblestone streets, the waterfront, the heart of Old Quebec a winding walk up hill.
Extremely helpful staff from the get-go in a modern hotel in the Lower Town of Old Quebec. Good breakfasts. Easy access to the waterfront with the Museum of Civilization right outside the front door. Enjoyed the hikes up the hill to the rest of Old Quebec on cobblestoned streets. Shopping right out the front or back doors. Good restaurants all around. Lots of history to absorb.
