Good hotel in town

Really nice hotel just 5mins from the sights of Salamanca. Good view of cathedral from room. Lots of restaurants nearby. A good choice.

Disappointing.

Posted Jun 8, 2017
Pros: Not a whole lot.
Cons: It's okay, if you like chain hotels. Have a better restaurant.
Location: We were just there overnight and didn't get a chance to explore the neighborhood. We could see lots of old buildings.
Location okay. Nice hotel but pretentious. Staff neutral - not friendly, not rude. The worst part was the restaurant. We got there about 10:00 pm and just wanted a simple meal after traveling all day. The restaurant was pretentious fancy but the food was awful. Wilty lettce in the salad, sharp dressing made me cough. Breakfast was okay but nothing special. No air conditioning, which I found really weird for a hotel like this. The window opened, but no screens and Salamanca seems to have lots of bugs. The good thing is there are also lots of swallows and bats. I was a little worried about bats flying in the window, but they didn't. It would have been nice to have larger window with screen. And with no air conditioning, the breakfast room/restaurant was very hot and stuffy.

nice hotel close to University Conference facility

Posted Jun 1, 2017
Pros: Location
Cons: Amenities and room service
Location: Salamanca is a city famous for its old university and various historic landmarks. Everything is within walking distance.
Stayed 5 nights with my partner while attending a conference nearby. Unbeatable location for that purpose. Although the reception was a bit gruff, perhaps due to language issues, overall experience was great. Our room had a little balcony where one could sit and enjoy the view and perhaps a cup of tea or a glass of wine. However, the hotel did not provide a hot water kettle or a tea/coffee maker to actually allow doing this. The bar/restaurant was very good, but room service was poor. First because there were no clear description of what was available - like various breakfast items and second there was a language barrier with lots of "no entiendos" (don't understand). Third, the actual food served was less than ideal compared to other 4 star hotels I have stayed. Finally, the instructions for operating the room safe are incorrect, leaving you in a bind if you have to call the reception for someone to come and open the safe for you. So in summary, the location is great, the rooms are clean and comfortable, but the amenities in the room and food service leaves much to be desired.

Pros: Location, room size.
On a quiet street within a walking distance from central Salamanca, and even closer to Michelin restaurants. Rooms spacious and comfortable.

Hotel Fonseca Salamanca - very comfortable

Posted Sep 16, 2016 on Hotels
Very nice and stylish hotel in old town surroundings. Approach by road was not too obvious but soon sorted. There is a basement car park but oddly there is a significant charge for its use. Easy walking distance from the old town, Universidad and cathedrals. This was festival week so lots of street entertainment and food to sample, all of which was traditional and delicious.

Two-bedroom apartment in the heart of Haro (Rioja wine country)2 blocks from city center, restaurants, music. Only one drawback NO A/C, cool at night, warm to hot during the day. Will go back, but not during Jul-Sept.
