Stay at old town in August 2017Posted Aug 14, 2017 on Hotels
Hotel location is perfect for stay at old town, but hotel itself is a bit worn-out. We went there in summer season when weather was hot and room does not have airconditioning, so sleeping was a bit challenging. Breakfast is ok, but the room is really small. There was possibility to have breakfast at the terrace, but wonder how this will work at the wintertime. We had car with us, and parking location is in a separate location from the hotel and finding it was a bit challenging, because there is no stward at the booth. There's only door which must be opened remotely and there are no markings about parking anywhere.
great location but not so great hotelPosted Jul 26, 2017 on Hotels
This is a very average hotel but the location is great so if you don't intend to spend much time in it then it is ok. Our room was very cramped with a double bed pushed against one wall with no bedside table on the other side either. The bathroom was modern enough. Breakfast was fairly poor, the coffee was undrinkable and if you arrived towards the end of the period then very little choice of food was left. But there are tea and coffee making facilities in the room so that is a plus.

Great Location with All the AmenitiesPosted Jul 7, 2017
We stayed three nights and found the room very convenient and comfortable. The breakfast was VERY GOOD and they provided us an ample take away breakfast on our final early start morning. It was a very convenient location for access to the bus and train station, but also very close to old town and city attractions. The staff were friendly and courteous. Highly recommend. Also, the nautical theme is very cool.

A very good hotel to explore RigaPosted Jul 2, 2017
Pros: The location was great. The hotel was not one of those soulless modern places it had history and character. The staff were very helpful.
Cons: The coffee at breakfast. The bed was six feet wide and the room was only eight foot wide, no room for bedside tables and little room to get into bed.
Location: Very central, close to the old town. Most places are easily walkable and access to public transport is very good.
My room was clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was more than adequate, plenty of choice of hot and cold foods although I would have liked the coffee to have been stronger. The hotel is very well situated, close to the old town and to public transport. Very reasonably priced.

Very good position for airport bus stop and townPosted Jun 28, 2017
Pros: Its character, convenient location, and helpful staff.
Cons: Nothing, so that the hotel's unique and charming character is not diluted.
Location: Excellent location, also within a few minutes walk of an excellent Rimi supermarket for for picnic items, snacks... Good tourist office also close
Very "Latvian Characterful" hotel, clean and reception staff excellent. Only 2-3 minutes walk from a bus stop for the cheap airport bus (every 14 minutes and fare of only 1.15 Euro if you purchase before you travel from airport or very numerous little shops in the town). These 1.15 fares are the same for any bus, trolley, tram, or mini-bus as long as you have paid in advance - otherwise it is 2 Euro per journey. Lots of interesting things to do, and visits to make out of town, eg Jurmala coast where you can still find real amber, Outdoor Ethnographic museum in nearby area of woodland and lakes. Lots of "culture" - opera, ballet, concerts, outdoor dancing and singing. Very well-maintained city parks and gardens ..... and very many cafes, bars and restaurants to choose from.
