Good standard hotel, excellent location

Posted Jul 28, 2017
The location of this hotel was excellent....right opposite bus tours and airport bus, and within walking distance of all the main attractions. Facilities were basic, but for us this hotel was perfect as a base for our short weekend trip

A little Spartan, but nice.

Pros: The location was excellent. Close to the Royal mile and the bus stops
Cons: Dresser or luggage stand
Location: One block off of the Royal Mile. One block from the bus to the Airport. Close to New Town.
Loved being able to walk to everything, except airport.

Location is hard to beat...

Posted Jul 25, 2017
Pros: The location, the price, the value for money. It is probably the best value for money in this area.
Cons: Providing facecloths towels, an in-room phone and a USB charger plug in at least one of the electrical outlet, an in-room safe and a mini-fridge.
Location: The location of this hotel is pretty much perfect. Walking distances to everything you want in Edinburgh including public transport to the airport.
Located about a 10 minutes walk to the Princes St. tram stop, 1 minute walk to Waverly train station and the Airlink bus stop. About a 3 minutes walk up the stairs to the Royal Mile. Motel One is a 'budget' chic contemporary german hotel chain focusing on delivering the best value for money. They hit the bull's eye with their Edinburgh property, at least this one. The location is just about perfect, close to everything you would want (uptown, public transport, shops and restaurants, etc). Being a 'budget' chic hotel chain, don't expect above standard amenities and service. For example, there is no facecloths provided, only bath towels, and there in no phone in the room. The room was also missing a mini-fridge and we would have used the in-room safe if they had placed one in... Otherwise, these are only minor irritants, and considereing the prices we paid for such a clean and well located hotel, the value for money is expectionnal. The property is recent, very clean and the staff members with whom we had interaction were all very receptive and polite. This is the perfect hotel for those (like us) who want a decent comfortable hotel at a great price. The front desk carries a range of electrical adapters that you can borrow at no cost. Just make sure to return them upon check-out.

Great location

Posted Jul 19, 2017
Cons: The location of the electric sockets was odd and meant the kettle and hairdrier had to be used in awkward place. No fan in bathroom.
We were very impressed with the central location of this hotel with easy access to train station and in the heart of the city. Staff were helpful and polite. The lounge and bar areas were comfortable and the room was spacious, clean and in keeping with the tasteful modern design of the rest of the hotel.

room was a bit claustrophobic - and confusing to navigate the halls - but location was great and staff was friendly

Cheap and cheerful, good location

Posted Jul 10, 2017
Pros: Price and staff.
Cons: Room was a little on the small side but that's perhaps the size your money will get in a capital city.
Location: Loads of stuff nearby. Plenty of historic and cultural buildings to visit e.g. Castle, art galleries, National Museum of Scotland.
Cheap and cheerful. Excellent location in the centre of Edinburgh, right next to the station and Edignburgh Old Town (the best part). Lovely, welcoming staff.
