Set the standard high for B&B excellence

Posted Aug 27, 2016 on Hotels
This B&B is in a beautiful hilly surrounding. The Hosts, Peter, Caroline & Allan, set the standard for hospitality really high. Peter's breakfast, is the best, he surprises with new tasty treats each morning. Their knowledge of the area is amazing, and their suggestions were always spot on. To go to Les Piques restaurant was incredible the owner made our evening warm and inviting, and the food was a cascade of tastes from the region, what an experience. A car with GPS is mandatory, sorry for getting so lost, but thanks Peter for the St. Bernard rescue. The beaches in Sitgas, and the sites in Taragona were great, thanks for the info Peter. The rooms were spacious and spotless, with a wonderful pool area. We stayed a week after our Med cruise and this was the highlight of our trip. Thanks Peter, Caroline & Allan, We will think of you and your beautiful B&B always especially in the middle of our cold winter. We hope to visit again. David & Norene (Toronto, Canada)

Look no further

We cannot recommend Casa Mallarenga strongly enough. The red carpet was rolled out for our entire stay, we only regret not being able to extend. Hosts with the most, nothing was too much trouble. We already have next year pencilled in. Very charming home away from home where we were treated as the only guests despite being fully booked. Thank you both so much for a wonderful stay. Lovely days at Garraf

Posted Apr 26, 2016
Pros: The location, the house, the swimming pool area, the flowers and fruit trees. Most of all the attention of the owners. Outstanding service.
Cons: Nothing that I can think of, my only problem with them is that they are so far away from home.
Location: You can enjoy the Garrraf National Park right there, Penedes Wine Country and the Garraf Coast are at short drive distances.
Traveled with my family of four (husband and 2 girls – aged 7 and 3-). Lodging: comfortable clean loft type room, table games provided, nice décor, loved the touch table lights. Breakfast: delicious, Peter prepares the greatest Spanish “tortilla” (my Spaniard Husband confirms that, my eldest girl who never takes any onion anywhere ate a whole slice) . The House: beautiful, the best is the swimming pool area, what I loved the most: the flowers and fruit trees, lemon and oranges trees, lovely. Location: breathtaking views of Garraf, can’t describe it, you need to see it. The owners’ kindness, attention to detail and dedication made our stay a very happy one. Peter and Caroline: we enjoyed very much those 4 days at Casa Mallarenga, thanks so muc

Quiet place in the country

Posted Nov 2, 2015
Pros: Peter and Caroline's hospitality. The relaxed pace and setting.
Cons: Instructions for getting to the B&B; our GPS could not find it and the instructions we were given rather confusing.
Location: Remote rural location a car is a must. B&B is 20 minutes away from Sitges and beaches. Wineries to visit nearby. You can take a bus or train to BCN.
We stayed two nights here after a 12 day drive from Sevilla to Madrid and wished we could have stayed longer. Our stay was so relaxing and Peter and Caroline's hospitality so gracious that it was hard to leave for Barcelona airport and the return trip to Canada. Peter is an outstanding cook and his breakfasts were simply the best we experienced during our three weeks in Catalunya and Spain. We drove down to Sitges to swim and to have lunch on two occasions.

Loved this place!

Loved this B&B especially getting our early morning call by foghorn leghorn and his chum next door. From a privacy perspective the rooms could be better soundproofed otherwise perfect location and hosts.

Couldn't be Better!

The location looks remote but is very close to Sitges as well as Vilafranca del Penedes. Just be sure to have a GPS as you tour around the countryside. As others said, hosts Kevin and Yoshiko are like new found friends- but friends that can cook a fabulous dinner, upon request. We at there both evenings of our stay- wonderful! They are English speaking, a treat at the end of a day touring cavas and wineries. Do it! Enjoy!

Great hosts

Posted Sep 25, 2013
Pros: The wifi, room cleanliness, shower, breakfast were good, the hosts were excellent, they went out of their way to ensure our stay was really great.
Cons: I think the hosts have maximised the potential of the establishment.
Location: It is essential you have your own transport, there is tons to do within easy striking distance, too much to mention here!
The hotel is in rather a strange location, high up in an up market housing estate. Upon approaching the hotel it looks rather bland with a wall and gates, however once past this the hosts have really made sure guests are well looked after. Nice touches included offering reasonably priced drinks/snacks from a communal fridge, with an honesty box for payments. Outside, the pool was deeper than usual, and there was plenty of seating areas and even a mini gym available. Breakfast was good and the atmosphere was very relaxing.

Homely accommodation near to Barcelona

Posted Sep 25, 2013
Pros: We loved the friendly and helpful hosts, the fabulous meals in a scenic setting, the BBQ and fridge facilities, the pool and outside space.
Cons: I am struggling to think of anything!
Location: 20 minutes from Sitges, for a day at the beach. 30-40 minutes from Barcelona, for the city, Olympic village and airport, 60 mins from Tarragona.
Our accommodation was very comfortable and clean and beautifully furnished. Our hosts were extremely friendly and helpful, with information on hand for excursion and parking suggestions. The B&B is on a hill with a fantastic view of the hills and sea, plus BBQ facilities, a fridge and coffee and drink facilities and pool, plus plenty of seating in the garden for relaxing in. We drove to Barcelona twice, once to see the city sights, and once to look around the Olympic village, it took us 30 mins approximately. We also went to Sitges, 20 minutes away, for a day at the beach, and Tarragona, 60 minutes away, for a medieval town, and a world heritage sight. If required, the hosts can cook us evening dinner, which was a fabulous 3 course affair sitting on the top terrace looking at the view. It was a lovely experience and we would definitely go again if we were in the area.

Little gem

Posted May 9, 2013 on Hotels
I have stayed in 5 star hotels which would be put to shame by this little guest house nurtured in the hill outside Barcelona. The room had individual design touches and overlooked an idilc setting. Kevin the host was very friendly and was so interesting you could spend hours listening too.
