I felt we were assigned a lesser room because we booked through a third party. Our room was the first room in the entrance next to the utility room , vending machines and ice machines all on the first floor. There were other rooms available with chairs available outside we asked for those but were refused even at the same price. Of course offered ones for higher price. Therefore getting a deal through third party here didn’t really make sense for us. The front office wasn’t very accommodating but the location and property met our expectations.

What did we like:
1) Walkable to the Black Ball Ferry lines.
2) Very spacious room with a balcony.
3) Very convenient for 3 people to stay (Booked a room with 2 queen beds).
4) Parking is free.
What didn't we like:
1) The hotel has no elevators. We had to carry our bags all the way up the stairs.
2) There are multiple entrances. The receptionist did not tell us which door to take. We had to walk a bit with the luggage to get to our room.
3) The bathroom locks did not work. There was no exhaust fan in the bathroom. The floors were always wet.
5) The TV did not work. We just took the room to spend the night, so we can take the Ferry to Victoria the next morning. So, we didn't mind so much.

There was no hot water barley warm locks on the sliding door did not work there were cob webs in the corners and around the doors glass door was dirty the moved us to another room it was much cleaner but still only warm water not worth the money

The last time we stayed at Red Lion was very different from now. It had a makeover which was long overdue. Glad to see/experience the results. Great rooms, apple of space and very clean. Would certainly stay there again and recommend this to anyone.

I loved the big windows with the view of the bay. It was so beautiful, and lots of ships come in. I also love that it’s right next to the wharf and the aquarium. And Hollywood beach. I’ve already booked another stay in April and I’m so excited. It looks like they’ve recently remodeled as well. And the room was very clean and cute. I look forward to my next stay.

When I walked into the office I was met with a strong odor that was a mixture of wet dog and old moldy wet carpet. The place is old and run down. The room had a recent upgrade but you can tell that it's an old facility.
