Common areas outstanding, maintenance issues w/ rm

Hotel is extremely convenient to Ontario airport, car rental return and Orlando Mills mall. Common, public areas are updated and well maintained. Room stay experience was marred by multiple maintenance issues. The plumbing made constant noises -- honestly -- and after flushing, the toilet made such a remarkable racket that we actually taped it to play for family members as you truly had to hear it to believe it.
Room furniture was distressed (chips to furniture, worn upholstery and obvious maintenance issues like missing knobs on the dresser drawers made the room look shabby and less well maintained). One, very thin and worn blanket had us resort to draping bath towels over it to keep warm as it as the room was chilly.
Finally, there was some sort of constant, high pitched buzzing/whining sound that we couldn't identify or figure out how to turn off. Had we not been so exhausted, we would have (unusual for us) asked for a different room.
The front desk staff was efficient and professional and the free wifi and breakfast were appreciated -- but we will try someplace next time as we were not comfortable in the room.
Staff was very friendly, but we found it odd that they insisted we provide a $50 damage deposit in advance -- and couldn't tell if that was standard policy, or because they thought that a 55 year old mom with her 21 year old daughter might be up partying or something. We weren't and didn't -- but that wasn't a welcoming thing we expected.
