Great location

Great hotel. Helpful staff. Nice indoor pool, hot tub and sauna. Close to Porcupine ski area and snowmobiling. We went skiing at the porkies, was only a couple miles up the road.

Perfect for relaxing, socializing

Posted Jan 16, 2017
This time of year the hotel is full of snowmobiles and skiers. Families, young adults and older adults, nice mix. Services were excellent. Free breakfast in AM, was good selection, hot and we'll stocked the staff did excellent job keeping up. Being full of sled heads it gets a little loud at times, but it's great! People meeting new people and having fun. Whirlpool suite was great after long day of trail riding. Highly recommend!! Plus, ample room to park snowmobile trailers, plug in sites for diesel trucks. Couldn't ask for more!

Clean and Comfortable

Posted Jan 5, 2017 on Hotels
Nice basic hotel for those not inclined to rough it in the Wilderness Area of the Porcupine Mountains. Food offerings in the hotel not great for vegetarians (basically a frozen pizza), but that is to be expected in the UP. All around, clean room, wi-fi, cable and right next to the ski area in the Porkies.

nice hotel with nice area on lake

Posted Aug 20, 2016
Pros: beds, breakfast, access to Lake
Location: Porcupine Mountains State Park, water falls, Lake Superior (lakefront)
nice hotel--quiet, comfortable beds, good breakfast, great outdoor area with small beach on lake. Not much else in area and this was good place to be--restaurant, info. at front desk, etc. and is closest place to stay for the hiking at Porcupine Mountains.

Super nice stay on the lake!

Posted Jul 25, 2016
Pros: Everything! Staff were friendly, professional, and kind. The room was comfy, superclean, and spacious; dog-friendly hotel. Lake location was gorgeous!
Cons: Located in tiniest hamlet of Silver City - it may be the only thing in the hamlet! Makes nearby town of Ontonagon seem like a mega-city in comparison!
Location: Visit the beautiful Porky Mountains nearby. Relax and enjoy the serenity of the UP & Lake Superior!
We had a great time here and enjoyed the convenience and comfort of this hotel! You simply cannot beat the location as it's right on Lake Superior, which means great scenery. The hotel has park-like areas adjacent to the lake that they have thoughtfully outfitted with picnic tables, wooden deck chairs, a fire pit, and more. At night you can enjoy a bonfire on this hotel property while viewing the spectacular sunsets, and also come out in the quiet mornings to view the equally spectacular sunrises. Simply beautiful! Our room for 4 and a dog was spacious and comfy, with one of the largest hotel bathrooms we have seen on our travels. Laundry on premises; beautiful lobby with truly comfy furniture for lounging. They have even provided board games and puzzles for you in the lobby. So many thoughtful touches! Great location for visiting the nearby Porky Mountains.

Very nice hotel. Peaceful.

Posted Feb 26, 2016
Pros: Very nice.
Cons: Nothing
Great hotel for outdoor activities and snowmobiling. Remote, so there was not phone services. However free wifi made up for that. Excellent continental breakfast. I arrived early and they were pleasant about giving me an early check in.

Great hotel for snowmobiling

Perfect place to stay for a snowmobile trip. Trails run right in front of the hotel. The bar downstairs was a plus too!! Great hotel and we will be back!
