Weren't sure at first, but it quickly won us over.

Posted May 21, 2017
Pros: Clean, convenient, and a good value.
Cons: A small window in the opposite end of the room to take advantage of the ocean breeze without having to prop the door open. Good coffee in the lobby.
Location: Crescent Bay is right across the street, as is the trolley stop. Lots of things within 1 mile; art museums, shopping, restaurants, etc.
We were in Laguna Beach for a beach wedding, but couldn't get in at the host hotel. In looking at the available options, this hotel caught our eye. A mile from town center, a short walk to the beach, on the trolley circuit, lots of character, free parking, and a good value. Both rooms had a view of the Pacific ocean, a fridge, microwave, and small balcony. There is a wide array of art placed throughout. There is no on-site restaurant, bar, or room service. They do offer coffee in the room and a light continental breakfast (pastries/juice) in the lobby. There is a food mart right next door with good coffee, beer, wine, snacks, etc. Most of the hotels in the immediate vicinity are old, so you have to take that into consideration. Once we saw the rooms that family members had at some of the beach front hotels, we were even more pleased with the Art Hotel. And, talk about attentive service -- we had a Lyft driver cancel on us at the last minute on the day of the wedding; the owner overheard us talking, got in her car, and gave us a ride!

We loved the hotel It was clean ,very up to date and comfortable. The little bar in the lobby was so nice after a hair raising drive in from Laguna beach. I would stay again.

Nice hotel for price and beach access

Posted Apr 18, 2017
Pros: Clean, felt safe, art and casual setting and pool.
Cons: Maybe when replacing the comforter get white duvet so it feels clean. I always just take the bedspread off before I sit or lay on it.
Location: Beach, 20 minute walk to village. Husky boy five blocks for lunch.
I had called early in the morning about an early check in. The man took my phone number and said he would let me know when the room was ready. As I was just driving into town I got a call from Isis who was super friendly and cheery letting me know my room was ready. She told us how to get to the nearest beach and where to grab a quick bite to eat. Such a great person! Our room was clean , pretty big but basic. The outside was great with art and places to sit and chill. We were on the second floor table to see the ocean view. We walked to the liquor store and got a bottle of wine to have before we walked to dinner. We ended up an the cliff restaurant and they had a free shuttle back to iur hotel which was good as it was uphill and a little chilly by the time we finished dinner. There was a light snack in the office for breakfast and coffee maker in room. Overall it is a little far from the village but that could be a good thing as there is less noise. I would stay here again.

An inexpensive, dog-friendly hotel near the beach.

Posted Apr 14, 2017
Pros: Friendly staff, convenient location, dog-friendly.
Cons: Painting inside and out, room repairs, carpeting, smell.
Location: Great restaurants, entertainment and shopping. Lovely beach.
Staff was very friendly. The room was not as pictured in the website. It was very dark, had an unpleasant aroma and was in need of repair. The carpeting was torn and frayed in several places, wallpaper was torn and coming away from the wall in several places, tissue dispenser in the bathroom was broken and the place needed a paint job, inside and out. The pool area was pleasant, parking was easy.

We arrived late, check in was fast. Room was nice, altho the beds were a little hard ans stiff for our liking. Day two seemed a bit odd, beds were straightened out just half way, no amenities were refreshed, towels were removed but not replaced. Overall it was a nice stay just not to our expectation, and I work in the same industry.

Sorry your expectations were not met. Being in the industry towels (nice & thick) have disappeared. Vendors re-supplied us today. Sold out week. Towels are replenished once washed. I apologize in the race of Easter week you were forgotten. Not intentional. I love my hardworking housekeepers! I live here and would have been happy to supply anything lacking....

Unique atmosphere, close to shuttle stop

Posted Apr 7, 2017
Pros: The Art Hotel is not your standard, run of the mill, chain hotel. It has charm and a funky sort of ambience that one remembers.
Cons: It is not in the heart of Laguna, but the convenience of the free shuttle makes up for location.
Location: The shuttle brings you right into the heart of downtown Laguna and all it has to offer, beaches, restaurants, galleries.
The hotel was easy to find. It had a charming atmosphere, great art scattered about, nice, friendly staff. We will definitely be back.

clean hotel

Posted Mar 25, 2017
One thing is a must, a clean room, the Art Hotel did that for us. The bed was comfortable and a good view of the ocean (if you have one of those rooms). However, the elevator was working when we arrived and not the last two days including our departure which meant carrying our belongings out. The morning we left, tried the elevator and went down to the lobby, it was locked with a message to call if you needed assistants. Being on the north end of Laguna Beach you must drive to most restaurants and attractions with a few exceptions. Two eateries and a couple of beaches within walking distance and a conveniences store right next door which helped due to the hotel vending machine took a dollar from me.. Take advantage of the shuttle that will take you back into the heart of Laguna and Danna Beaches, there's a pick up/drop off point right across the street of the hotel. Overall a good stay and yes would do it again.
