Nice hotel, close to the beach and restaurants.

Pros: Amenities, especially the location.
Cons: Updated room interior design.
Location: Please review my experience section.
The hotel is in a prime location and surrounded by a lot of great restaurants. I spent three weeks there on a business trip. My room was cleaned everyday, and my view was overlooking the ocean. The beach is less than a 6 minute run down Del Mar street, or a 15 minute walk, the locals are very courteous and respectful. The hotel staff was courteous, respectful, attentive, and professional, especially, Lauren and Levi, the young managers at the front desk, and the hotel maids, also. The onsite laundry room was a bonus, but if you prefer a local laundry mat, there are several within walking distance. I didn't encounter any rude people while I was here, walking or driving up and down the main street was convenient, crime is not prevalent at this location. There was actually a nice mix of locals, and young Marines, of which, Camp Pendleton is nearby. I highly recommend staying at this hotel for a weekend get away or a lengthy business trip, my stay was great and problem free. I'd recommend eating at Antoines across the street for breakfast, and visiting H.H. Cottons Bar and Grill, as well as Mimosa, their french toast is the best that I've ever eaten, also for Mexican food, I'd visit Avila's El Ranchito restaurant, these restaurants are all near or across the street from one another. You won't go wrong staying at the Holdiay Inn - San Clemente.

Construction: Under some, and needs some

Make sure to ask for a room on the front of the hotel. The backside of the property sits right on the 5 and the highway noise makes you think the trucks are coming into the room. Also, the bathroom was a handicap fitted facility and the shower is a walk-in with a slow drain so the water runs into the bathroom and eventually hits the carpet in the room.
