Needs a renovation

Posted Apr 22, 2016
This was our first experience with Disney and my first choice hotels were booked. It's a themed hotel, but in dire need of a renovation (carpet in rooms/some furnishings). We booked on Expedia and were given a handicap accessible room, which I'm not comfortable taking. My 12 yo son complained about the cleanliness of the bathroom. We moved to another room and had a heavy perfume covering a foul smell. It was too late to move. The pool/hotel/restaurants were a positive as it is connected to the nicer hotel, the beach club. It was fine for our purposes as we were never in the room but to sleep.

Beach Break

Posted Mar 29, 2016 on Hotels
Overall the hotel is very pleasant. Check in was quick and we received a text with our room number. Room was spacious with a desk, daybed and balcony. Luggage retrieval was another matter entirely. We transferred from the Caribbean Beach Resort and after calling 3 times, we finally received it at 10:25pm - after our dinner reservations after the kids bedtime (we were granted roughly a 10% credit at checkout. We had dinner reservations in the Captains Grill which was excellent. We did not however have breakfast reservations and consequently ended up eating in the only quick service concession bar which is located in the Beach Club Hotel (attached by a walkway next door). Aside from that the pools were amazing and the kids loves the sand island pool - but note that for younger kids, you must exit the water park area to cross over the main sidewalk to enter the stairs for the big and small slide - I wish they had made a walkway to connect the two as I felt this was a bit unsafe - this sidewalk connects Epcot to the many hotels around the lake and is open to anyone! We also rode the Disney Magical Express to the airport which went very smoothly. Bottom line….I would stay here again except I would transfer my own luggage, make sure I had dinner/breakfast reservations or I would prefer to stay at the Beach Club which was more convenient to the Quick Service Restaurant.

Exploring another area of WDW

Posted Mar 8, 2016
Pros: The ability to walk to 4 other hotels. Pool area was fun.
Cons: Public areas were gorgeous (inside and out) however, the room that we occupied could use some updating upolstered furniture was tired, wall safe small
Location: Close (walking distance) to Epcot and a short boat ride to Hollywood Studios, on the other hand the Magic Kingdom was a lengthy bus ride.
The Disney Yacht Club Resort was in a area of WDW that was new to us. There was plenty to explore! Hotel was very attractive and check-in was easy. The wristband concept is terrific, I only wish that we had been aware of how to connect our park tickets. We had requested a king room but were first assigned to double queen. A quick call to the front desk remedied the situation immediately which was very impressive. We were only at WDW for 3 days so we did not have an opportunity to experience all that the hotel had to offer. I will not hesitate to recommend this hotel to others. My one suggestion would be for WDW to update their wall safes. The ones at the Yacht Club were very small and unable to accomadate a regular sized laptop.

A Regular Visitor...

Posted Mar 8, 2016 on Orbitz
Pros: I love the feel of this hotel among many other things. The pool is fantastic and offers a really nice sand bottom pool with a great water slide.
Cons: The pricing has recently shot up over the Polynesian and Grand Floridian. This needs to be adjusted.
Location: Epcot is close. Boardwalk is right over the lagoon.
This experience wasn't as good a previous years. I will premise this with the staff was accommodating in the issues we had. The sheets had not been changed and the way in which we know this was we found a bug crawling on my Fiance's face and when they came to strip the beds to check more, we arrive back to the room with dirty clothes on the floor from the pulling of the sheets. The staff rectified this, however it took us finding a bug, finding dirty clothes and a couple of trips to management first. Our room view was awful this time and had a "shared" balcony with two other rooms. This meant the curtains were constantly closed. Usually, this is a great stay and my go to hotel. This time it just wasn't on point.
