Family point of view
Posted Oct 9, 2016
We were a party 4, 2 adults and 2 very young children in the family room with bunk beds for the kids.
The room wasn't as clean as expected, some mold on the curtains, long black hair on the towels more than once, floors weren't cleaned properly.
Communication from hotel with guests was lacking, we were there during hurricane Matthew and the only communication received were 2 letters shoved under the door about activities being postponed and to advise people to stock up on snacks etc for during the storm.
A tracking board was set up in the main lobby, which you couldn't get to without being outside of buildings and on a walkway... not advisable during category 4 winds!
No call to check in on guests after the storm, no kind of communication.
The attached Applebee's was horrible, we paid for breakfast included rates and ate there twice. We were there for 10 nights and preferred to pay elsewhere for breakfast, the service is terrible, only 1 waitress was friendly and smiling but was taken advantage of by her colleagues.
Lastly this was the first time we stayed at a hotel where we had no idea what we were going to pay until checkout, when they shoved the bill under the door at 1am.
BEWARE of hidden charges, the bill came up about 120$ MORE than quoted here, and there were 4 more families when we went to return the keys, at the front desk asking what the extra charges meant.
