We arrive at the property around 9pm and find that they don't have any account of our reservation and have in fact cancelled it. Hyatt said they can only rebook us at a higher cost and we needed to pay them directly, when in fact we'd already paid expedia for the whole package.
I needed to get on a phone with expedia and have expedia confirm to the agent that expedia will honor the payment to the hotel if Hyatt let us stay there. There was some fundamental mix up and this is how we had to start our theme park vacation wondering if we'll have a place to stay in the middle of the night!
Expedia needs to take it up with Hyatt and address this behavior by the hotel. We also need to be reimbursed us for this extreme inconvenience. My 11-yr old started crying at the hotel lobby. The hotel was trying to protect themselves and have me call expedia and have you tell them about how my reservation was active at your end so they can be protected, while leaving me deal with it in the lobby, No manager came to assist.
I've been a regular expedia and Hyatt customer all along and this how we're treated... But, finally, an expedia agent came to the rescue and saved the day for us! Thank you for that.
