Our family went to enjoy the onsite amenities such as the pools, shops, and bowling alley. We all really enjoyed the pool on the lake the most and loved having the food and drink options at the pool. Our room was nice and comfortable. The biggest challenge on site is the hills you have to walk but they dohave shuttles if you choose not to walk from your room to amenities!

One night stop on way home from Family event.

Pros: The easy staff that made the recommendation of getting our rooms closer together.
Cons: Online booking specified Lake View, but was not set up upon arrival with any indication of that purchase expectation.
Location: Could improve family stays by offering family rates for some of the amenities.
A two family stay for one night on the way back from Fort Madison, IA - River Fest Event. The kids loved the pools and bowling. Very relaxing and clean.

Dont get underground-level room

Pros: I did like that our room was close to the 2 pools. I liked the whirlpools next to the outdoor pool and indoor pool.
Cons: Facilities could be renovated. Lobby was renovated in 2015 and it looks great! Everything else however is about 20 years behind. underground rooms bad
Location: We went to the nearby outlet mall. there was a nice Asian restaurant (Zen). being Asians ourselves we appreciated it a lot
The room we got was half basement type so it was underground. Therefore it had TERRIBLE DAMPNESS. It smelled damp and all our clothes were slightly damp. Even the toilet paper in bathroom was moist. The wall behind the king bed had an arrangement of stones which at first looked kinda nice, but when looking in details and with light you could see a 1/2 inch of dust which probably wasnt cleaned since construction. I hope that other rooms which were above the ground were better. Another thing, at night there was a weird/creepy/annoying sound next door. Sounded like a pump of some sort. We asked the operator to look into it the second night. They sent someone but nothing was fixed and the sound still persisted trhough the night. In terms of food seleciton, lets just say we had to detox at home after we came back.

Nice hotel

Cons: Check the a/c unit. If it's leaking a lot on the balcony, it could start leaking on inside of room on carpet. Dust down spiderwebs around balcony.
Location: Ha Ha Tonka State Park, Shawnee Bluff winery, Bagnell Dam area.
At first we got a room right next to the water, it was outdated. Since it was our anniversary, I immediately called the front desk to ask for a top of the line room with a view of the lake (that I had paid for thru Expedia) and a balcony. The main reason for wanting another room was because the sliding glass door wouldn't lock except with a chain, the balcony was shared with other guests, and there were spiders due to being so close to the lake. The front desk really came through, and then gave us a very nice room. Room was on 6th floor in the main resort building, and we liked the garage parking much better, too. We had two kings, view of marina and lake, and private balcony. By the time we left the condensation of the a/c unit was leaking inside the room, but they thanked me and said they'd report it to engineering immediately. Overall, we had a very good stay and enjoyed the pizza and pool one day. The rest of the time we explored outside of the resort. Kids would absolutely love this hotel.

Nice and relaxing weekend

Incredibly uncomfortable beds :( and unfriendly staff at the restaurant (not everyone!) overall nice experience.

We had 10 family members traveling together. We were able to have 3 rooms in a house to ourselves. This was great because we didn't have to worry about being too loud and bothering the people around us. The shuttle service was excellent. We were all able to travel together to get around the property. There are also a lot of different activities to choose from so everyone can find something they want to do. We had a great stay!

Great hotel. Poor service.

The hotel is beautiful and the location is wonderful. there are tons of things to do for the whole family. Our room was great, but the staff was unfriendly and service was awful. Our room was not even cleaned after our first night there! And do not make the mistake of eating on the property - terrible food and poor service.

Fantastic!

This was our first time staying, we will be back! Everything you want to do, is here. We parked the car and didn't get back in it until it was time to go home. Which says alot for us. The only thing I can say is that we weren't able to stay long enough.
