Great, clean budget hotel in NW Oslo

Posted Jun 30, 2015 on Hotels
I stayed here for a week on business. The room was just what I needed: inexpensive (with breakfast included!) clean, comfortable, with no frills. The in-room Internet access was wired only, so bring a cable. The hotel itself is attached to a hospital, but I noticed very little noise throughout my stay. The tram into central Oslo is literally next door to the hotel, and the hotel is within walking distance of the university.

Gaustad Hotel

Posted Sep 15, 2014
Pros: Clean, friendly staff, location away from the busy area and views of forest area and ski jump tower, coffee or tea available 24hrs
Cons: wifi in rooms, improve breakfast ( it was the same selection for 3 days)
Nice hotel just what I was expecting. Away from all the busy areas, next to a hospital and a university. Safe neighborhood, tram right outside the hotel (last stop), and close to metro station Gaustad which will take you to the Jump tower. No shops around the area, tram takes about 15 - 20 min to central station.

Good bathroom

internet at the room was not right for those with apple products, then you had to go to the lobby area. But all in a good stay.

Not ideal location - far from downtown

Posted Aug 4, 2014
Pros: Modern rooms.
Cons: WiFi and hot water system.
Location: Only a hospital and university building are in the immediate area. Tram system travesl to call parts of the city with at stop at the hotel entrance.
The room was very nice, almost new condition furniture, clean and quiet. A buffet breakfast was included which had an extensive choice offering. Sometimes the shower went to cold water shortly after turning on the water. I am not sure what type of water system they have - was advised when this happens, to leave the tap running for 10-15 minutes and the water will again be hot. WiFi only worked from the lobby which was very inconvenient. This property is located adjacent to the university hospital, about 15-20 mintues to downtown by tram and the tram stop is at the hotel entrance. The hotel can also be reached from Central station by tram, or by bus from the airport. However the bus option is costly.

Nice hotel but far from the city

Posted May 20, 2014
After 11:30 in the evening there is no public transportation and the taxi is very expensive to get to the hotel.
