My girlfriend and I meet up half way in Ottawa as we are long distance - this is our second stay at this particular location and it has been a great place for us to meet. Very quiet and as two AFAB people, we don’t feel unsafe or worried about the area. It’s right next to our favorite (Cracker Barrel) and a Starbucks!

We stayed for one night after a wedding. Checked in quite late had no issue. There is no elevator so make sure you're ok with stairs. The pillows were terrible. But the room was clean and the continental breakfast was yummy!

Family reunion needed hotel in area
We arrived early and could not get into a room, returned at 6 o clock and we were told we had a room on the second floor. I have a handicap and asked about the elevator and I was told there wasn't one. I had to carry my baggage without help to the second floor. If the room had not been prepaid, there is no way I would have stayed there. When we returned to our family reunion, we told everyone about our experience . I Would never stay here again, my next trip to Ottawa, I will be staying somewhere else.

Nice room if you get past the checkin desk
Our room was decent ... comfy bed. clean linens, OK bath. but the general state of the hotel itself was not inviting .... hall looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in quite a bit ... carpets looked dark and dingy. Checkin was not welcoming ... rather hostile almost. And you are immediately greeted with a screen from 16 cameras about the locale. Not inspiring ...I appreciate the security but seeing them in lobby was off putting and scary. OK place to stay for a quick night but there are other places nearby that I would try next time that looked a little more clean and inviting for not much more money. We had been travelling cross country and this was one of the lesser hotels we stayed at with it also being one of the more expensive.

We may stay there again.
We checked in very late after a 9 hrs drive. We showered and went to sleep. During the night the room became warm so we turned on the A/C and the smell of mildew and worse filled the room. We shut it off and went back to sleep. We complained in the morning and were given a new room. The comp. breakfast was only ok. The waffle maker was of poor quality and waffles not eatable, we saw lots of then in the garbage can. The bath/hand towels were small, old and needed to be replaced. The Hotel itself was very nice and in a good location. The Staff was understanding and very friendly. We may stay there again in the future.

Checked in real late and didn't really interact with many people. Room was nice and clean, bathroom light was out, but again, it was late and we were tired so we didn't really care. I let them know on our way out in the morning.

Pleasant Stay.

This was a very comfortable night on a long road trip. We appreciated the friendly staff and the very clean and quiet room. Everything is basic, including breakfast, but good. We will stay here again on the way home.

Nice Place To Stay
We arrived in the afternoon and had a quick check in. Our room was clean as well as the common areas. The hotel was nearly full but very quiet. There were several signs that stated the hotel was being renovated, but I didn't see any evidence of this in terms of construction work, clutter or noise. The breakfast was a nice addition and the area was clean, well stocked and maintained. Check out was also quick and easy.

The coffee in the pot and coffee grounds were left in the coffee maker by housekeeping both days. We were given new cups and package coffee to use it again. The bathroom sink had a stain in it that would rub off, but it was still there when I left. So, the sink was not actually scoured. Yet she had a can of scouring cleanser on the housekeeping cart.

Tacky hotel near Starved Rock. DO NOT STAY HERE.
The Econolodge is located 9 miles from Starved Rock State Park, which is why I wanted to stay there. I tried to book at the lodge, but they were full. Thinking I would save some money, I decided to stay at the Econolodge. Terrible decision. The staff is not friendly at all. When I checked in, I was handed a copy of a receipt, which I was asked to sign. Since the form did not have a rate already filled in, and it required my signature, I asked for a copy. The manager rudely refused to provide me with one, saying that "this is our document and I do not need a copy of it." Furthermore, the entire hotel is supposed to be non-smoking, but our room immediately wreaked of cigarettes. The sheets had stains, and there was sock in the bed. Given that there are plenty of other hotels right next door, DO NOT STAY HERE. It is not even that cheap.

Def. not worth $90!!
After taxes room came out to $90. The room is more like a $30-$40 room. Still have tube tvs. Hotel not updated at all! Room stunk like pi$$ and ammonia. I will Never stay there again. Very ghetto.

I could see that while we were staying there, there was a lot of construction going on and that's ok but there is no excuse for the smell.That whole hotel needs the windows open, the carpets cleaned and dried out,or pulled out.The smell of mildew is so overwhelming that we were going to move but our party had 4 rooms and we wanted to stay together so we all "tuffed" it out.We also needed a couple extra pillow's as my back is bad and were denied so one night I slept on a chair.the other nights I was too exausted to care about the pain.The old saying "you get what ya pay for" is so true.I do expect comfort and clean.Nothing that smells bad enough to take your breath away can be clean or healthy.I would not advise anyone to stay here...

Under construction certainly fits! Although the wallpaper was missing in the hallways, etc., that is no excuse not to sweep up the hallways. Someone put a rock in the door to the outside, so you would not need your hotel key to get in and out. Guess what! At 6:30 am the next morning, the rock was still in the door. Who is on security here?

The rooms were pretty decent. Very clean but the bathroom toilet ran now stop! The room to my door had to be slammed shut in order for it to completely lock. The main desk area wasn't finished and had a terrible smell. It would have been nice to know that the building was undergoing some construction. I would have chosen a different place to stay.

So many silk flowers in the lobby, thought I was in a funeral home (kidding). A super nice place in the middle of nowhere. Very nice people in a very clean place.

Very good.
It was pleasant and a good location for us. Only was disappointed the pool was out of commission. Otherwise, not bad at all and very pleasantly pleased. A little high in price, but its what the going rate is for the area, so that is my opinion only.

Clean but smelled
The staff was friendly checking in and the room was clean however the whole hotel from the lobby while checking in, the hallway, and the rooms all had a musty odor. Just have no idea how it can smell like that :(

Way overpriced for what it is. Room smelled mildewy no matter how high we cranked the air conditioner. Pool is ridiculously small, cold, unappealing. Wifi sporadic, and front desk staff tries to deflect blame by saying it's "your computer" that has the problem. No fruit at breakfast, but hard boiled eggs are good. Limited toiletries in bathroom, old linens, nice TV though. Microwave and fridge in room is helpful. This place needs a better makeover though!

The more important things were all good i.e. condition and cleanliness of room. I was disappointed I could not get extra pillows and the pool was too dirty and cold to use. Liked that continental breakfast was included but had to ask for plates & cups. Some fruit would have been nice.
