The 1 ice machine that did worked on ground level broke! No ice available tub backed up as you showered. They did move me to another room as we had to stay 5 nights!

Everything was good here other than the indoor pool, and hot tub were closed for the season. Room was clean, staff was friendly, no wait on check in or check out. Overall a very good experience.

Going down hill fast
We've stayed there each year sine it was built. Mostly good each year. But its going down hill for sure. Keypad on end doors hasn't worked for years. So have to prop door open to get hunting gear in for 8 guys- 4 rooms. Every year they say the parts on order. Maintenance is lacking. Toilet runs on and on. Water pressure was bad this year in 3 out of 4 rooms. Water runs out the shower no matter what you do with the curtain because the pressure is so low and doesn't spray out far enough. Pool and hot tub were closed- and had been drained! We stay there each year mainly for that perk. I understand that things happen, but that can be noted on website with our current technology. We stayed at the Coretel for bow season- 11 nights and paid less than 1/2. of this. I expect less there but $ for what you get, its a better deal without the pool area. I asked for 2 rooms back to back. I understand that isn't always possible, but one room on 1st floor and one on 2nd is a little extreme. When I asked, I got serious attitude from front desk. Each year they have always had breakfast ready by 5 am since the place is full of deer hunters. Not this year. Just not accommodating like they used to be for a full hotel of early risers. I'm sure this review sounds like I'm just a complainer. I'm not but I read reviews on everything I buy or places we go. This is to inform you, I wasn't the only one questioning things this year. We were all very disappointed. American Inn can do much better.

It is probably the nicest hotel in the area. Pros - I give the staff 5 start!! They were amazing. Rooms were clean and quiet. Easy to find and easy parking. Breakfast was average. Cons - Spa was "out of service". There were places on the ceiling in the pool room that the ceiling had water damage that had not been repaired. The pool was supposed to be 80 degrees, but was much cooler. One of the exterior doors would not open from the outside with key card.

Convenient location right off interstate and close to town of Fairfield. Super clean facility and great staff. Beds super comfortable. The only reason I did not give all 5 star is that the pool and hot tub were closed during our stay which was a main drawing card in booking this hotel. There were other more affordable options to choose from. But with 100 degree weather thought I would splurge for a hotel with a pool. Sad was not open

Total BS. Accidentally booked in wrong town while on the road. Called and cancelled quickly. Motel said we must contacted Expedia to get refund. So Expedia informs me that within 72 hours, that they cannot get in contact the motel with the motel..that’s open 24/7. They were provided with my name, number, and booking number…and still cannot figure out how to refund my money..and now say they will not refund me because of rules and policies. I’ve been robbed! Making me pay for a room I didn’t stay in, that was cancelled within 20 minutes….20 MINUTES….at the same motel that Expedia says they were unable to contact for 3 DAYS! WHAT A RACKET! Rob the poor, to pad the pocket of a corporate giant. For a service that wasn’t provided that would of took 2 minutes to call motel and confirm. Expedia should be ashamed of taking advantage of a person who can only afford a motel for an emergency situation. Because of a mistake, I had to pay for two motel rooms,when affording one was a stretch. I admit I made a mistake. A mistake I tried to correct in a timely manner. A mistake that didn’t cost anyone anything…except me, because Expedia takes advantage of the “little guy” because they have all the money they need, but still feel the need of keeping the money they did not earn for a service they did not provide. Evidently an inept company that cannot contact a motel that is open 24/7, provided with name, phone and booking number. If anyone can help, please do. Robbery!

We had another good experience at AmericInn in Fairfield. Our room was clean, adequately sized, and well appointed with amenities. The public spaces were pleasant. Very conscientious staffers for our breakfast needs. Plenty of parking — a reliance and pleasant motel in SE Iowa.

AmerIcinn computers were down, so we were unable to check in. It was past 3 p.m. so policy said we could not cancel reservation. No place to eat in the immediate area. We went on to Ottumwa and checked into another facility there and ate the cost for the unused room at AmericInn.
